فرجينيا وولف، واحدة من أعظم كتاب الأدب الإنجليزي في القرن العشرين، وهي رائدة في استخدام تيار الوعي كطريقة للسرد. وُلدت في لندن عام 1882 لأسرة من الطبقة الثرية والمثقفة، مما ساعدها في تشكيل مهاراتها الأدبية. كانت حياتها مليئة بالصراعات النفسية والاضطرابات العصبية التي أثرت على كتاباتها الغنية بالتحليل النفسي والتأمل العميق في الهوية. ساهمت وولف في تأسيس مجموعة بلومزبري، التي كانت من أبرز الحركات الأدبية والفنية في ذلك الوقت، وشاركت في نشر العديد من الأعمال من خلال دار نشر هوجارث التي أسستها مع زوجها ليونارد وولف. من بين أعمالها الشهيرة: "السيدة دالوي"، و"الأمواج"، و"أورلاندو". بالرغم من إنجازاتها الأدبية الكبيرة، عانت وولف من اضطرابات نفسية حادة أدت إلى انتحارها عام 1941 عن عمر يناهز 59 عامًا.
