Overview

About the Author

I was born in one of the Soviet republics in the south of the former USSR; graduated from high school in another one - in the far North (beyond the Arctic Circle); fulfilled my military duty in the third one - in the west of the Union (in the Baltics); graduated from university (specialty - jurisprudence) and began a professional career in the fourth one - approximately in the center of Eurasia. And wherever I lived (studied, served, worked), everywhere I felt myself like “at home”, although I nowhere belonged either to the “titular nationality” or to the “state-forming nation”. In general, my memories of that time are mostly very positive, so, probably, I can be easily attributed to the genus "Homo soveticus".
After the USSR collapsed, at first everything went not bad too. Democratization of the social order, freedom of market relations, open borders - that all was so great! And the most important - there was a hope for an even better future (both for myself and for the country as a whole), in the construction of which I wanted to take part. Who would have thought that over the next fifteen years this desire would come true - in a way that was impossible to dream! From a student, moonlighting as a night watchman, to the Deputy Minister of Justice - such a career has completely satisfied all my professional ambitions and allowed me to "move to the next level."
Meanwhile, the life did not stand still. People were changing, society was changing, the country was constantly changing - and unfortunately, not always for the better. "Democratic euphoria" of the 90s of the last century quickly faded away, giving way to a "stable stagnation" of the well-fed early-2000s, which unexpectedly (or was it to be expected?) turned into chronic crises of the era of "corrupt authoritarianism" threatening to degenerate into a new feudalism ...
The time (and age, apparently) has come to think of what every sensible person ever thinks about (of course, if the Destiny gives him such an opportunity). How do you see the result of your life journey? What do you want to leave behind on this Earth? What else can you do to ensure that your descendants will live in a safer and more harmonious world?
It is obvious that everyone may have their own answers to these and similar questions. My answers will be given in my books.
