Pym Avery is a professional multi-award-winning tattoo artist. She began to teach herself the
trade in 1987 at a time when no one would entertain women as apprentices in this heavily male
dominated world. Consequently, she traveled throughout Europe in her van to acquire tattooing
experience and enough skill to convince a shop to hire her. Her quest took her into the tattoo
convention world of the ‘90s, the decade when tattooing as an art form exploded into the public
consciousness. She opened her first tattoo shop in 1995.
Pym has owned several tattoo studios over the years, but now prefers to work independently at
tattoo conventions or as a guest artist by appointment only, allowing more time for
commissioned paintings and writing. She travels and works mostly in the United States and
resides in Tucson, AZ when not on her sailboat in Mexico
