About the Author

Pedro de Ribadeneira was a familiar acquaintance of Ignatius's from the earliest days of the Jesuit order's official recognition in Rome in 1540. He gained international fame as a classic author who wrote during the golden age of Spanish literature. Claude Pavur (editor) is a Latinist at the Institute of Advanced Jesuit Sources at Boston College. His English translation of Ribadeneira's Life appeared in 2014.
