Janelle Newman was born and raised in church, in San Diego California. She grew up singing in her church family's worship team as a child with her Mom and sister Jasmin. It was at this time that she began to have a sense that God was real and was able to do what she loves, which is to sing. Janelle always had a desire to know God but many times struggled to know who and where He is. As her soul continued to feel lost, she found herself crying out to God, frustrated and searching. With time, God continued to quiet her by His love.

She graduated from Grossmont College with an associate's degree in social and behavioral sciences and sociology. She also has a bachelor's degree in sociology from church San Diego State University. Janelle also currently sings on her praise and worship team at her Word For Life Ministries, under the leadership of Pastor Joel E. Bowdan III and Co-Pastor Michele Bowdan.

She is an author of her own memoir, Starting With The Mind, which details her battle with loneliness and the process of overcoming it. In it, she debunks myths about relationships and marriage and speaks about her personal struggles and describes the faithfulness of God. Janelle has realized that regardless of the circumstances and frustrations, God will always be there to pour His love in us. With a goofy personality, a passion to dance with no rhythm and love for her family, Janelle will always tell of the goodness of the Lord and genuinely supports others in pursuit of their success. She expressly supports others because she knows that everyone was born with potential to reach greatness not only spiritually but also naturally.

Her favorite scripture is Psalms 16:11 which states "thou wilt shew me the path of life, in thy presence is fullness of joy and at their right are pleasures forever more."
