How many books are in the Outlander series?

Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander series currently has nine books. Her newest Outlander book is titled Go Tell the Bees that I am Gone. Rumor has it that she already started writing book #10, and we can’t wait to read it! Outlander books are considered historical romance science fiction novels - they truly cover a variety of genres! The first book starts out in 1945 with a former British combat nurse who is on holiday with her husband after returning from war. She steps through a sanding stone in an ancient circle among the British Isles and is transported through time and space to Scotland in the year 1743. Throughout the series, Claire encounters many dangers as she is thrown into a war-torn Scotland and joins a group of rebels, but also finds new romance.
