Alma Flor Ada and Isabel Campoy have joined forces to create Authors in the Classroom. Having experienced personally the pain and the glory of writing, as well as the power of writing for content and meaning in addition to form, Ada and Campoy wanted to share the benefits of daring to write with teachers. In their workshops the authors have experienced the fear many teachers have fear of writing and of sharing their writing. To understand this difficulty, they explore the contradictions that exist between what is expected of teachers and the education and support they have received. Authors in the Classroom provides teachers with techniques on how to teach writing, helps teachers discover for themselves the power of authorship does indeed which generates the enthusiasm for writing that can transform the way in which students and families relate to the teacher, to the act of learning and the discovery of their own voices.
