About the Author

Isabel Hernández is a professor of German Literature at the Complutense University of Madrid, where she earned her doctorate with a thesis on the concept of "homeland" in contemporary German literature, exemplified by an analysis of the work of Swiss writer Gerold Späth. Her research interests include Swiss literature in the German language, 19th and 20th-century German literature, comparative literature, and literary translation. She is the author of various studies on different periods and genres of German literature, as well as numerous translations of German-language authors from different eras.
