Purpose: The purpose, according to the editors, is to restore the study of memory disorders into a psychopathological framework. They note that historically phenomena such as deja vu, confabulation, and paramnesias were considered memory disorders, but when no so-called "organic" basis could be found, these fascinating phenomena were no longer considered true memory disorders. The editors hope to rectify this unbalanced view by developing a book in which both "organic" and "functional" memory disorders are covered with a modern neuropsychiatric perspective. They have succeeded in their goal!
