This is the true story about Alissa, a 14 year old girl living in a foreign country doing an
exchange program called En Famille. She spends six months in Paris with a Catholic
French family of 6 kids. Chloe's family consists of her parents, Fran and Alex, and siblings
Marie, Anthony, Oliver, Matthew and Eric. Most names have been changed to protect the
people in this story.
Prior to her coming to France, Chloe, also 14 lived with Alissa's family in the United States for
six months. While Chloe was living in the US, her and Alissa became close. Alissa is one fourth
French, half Russian and part Romanian. Being part French, Alissa has family all over France,
which encourages her to do this exchange, learn the language embrace the culture, and become
closer to her French family. She grew up in West Los Angeles for the majority of her life before
doing this exchange in France.
This story is told in the format of journal entries written by Alissa. It begins with Alissa
traveling around France with her family for a week and then being dropped off with Chloe's
house in Paris, shortly followed by spending the summer at the family's beach house in
Mesquer, a small town in the North West region of France.
