About the Author

Raised on the flat farmland of Illinois, Anita Zager and husband, Tim, came to live on the North Shore of Lake Superior for its incredible and changing beauty. They came to fulfill a lifelong goal to live near wilderness, a major port for ships and trains, outstanding clear water and a broad horizon. Anita believes that, consciously or unconsciously, we all have a place inside that defines our personal geography. It may be the plains, hills, trees or a certain horizon that make us feel like we are home, giving us comfort. Sometimes these are features we seek as we plan for a new adventure or vacation because they aren’t like what we’re used to. Anita and Tim have raised their children as Duluthians, Minnesotans and outdoor enthusiasts. They never take for granted everything the area has to offer, both in its present state and in the deeper levels of intriguing history that characterizes Duluth. They found in Duluth an exciting adventure and a place to call home, as well as that defining element of personal identity, all things worth passing down to the next generations.
