Overview

A Raconteur is a person skilled in telling stories in an amusing way. Stories about death and funerals are not usually told with a humorous twist. Before my total Laryngectomy in 2020 people always told me I should write a book about my family's four generations in funeral service. I have tried to weave a storyline around actual events and the lessons I learned. I was raised in the funeral business but embraced the culture of the sixties. This gave me a unique perspective to evaluate and share these experiences. I will share tales of the unusual and bizarre, of great courage and great despair and everything in between, I will share my views of the changes in our families and our culture I witnessed as a compassionately detached observer.

About the Author

I am retired fourth generation funeral director from Louisville Kentucky. l attended Stetson University for two years and then transferred to University of Minnesota and graduated in 1972. Being raised in a funeral home instilled in me a zest for life. I have lived an active life and was willing to try about anything. I realized early that this life is not a dress rehearsal. I spent some wild years in the late sixties and early seventies which had a profound effect on me. I was lucky to meet and marry my soul mate and we are in our forty eighth year of marriage. We have been blessed with four children and seven grandchildren. We spend our time between homes in Colorado and Florida and visiting our family all around the country.
