Bill Yates grew up in Waldron, Arkansas, and later spent 29 years working as a teacher and principal for Waldron Public Schools. He is married to Marilyn Ferguson Yates, the prettiest girl in his high school graduating class of 1974. They now live in Alma, Arkansas.
