About the Author

Catherine Taylor - Growing up on the plains of Kansas, Catherine Taylor rode horses in the hot Kansas sun, loves to kayak, camp, and travel throughout the American west. She is an avid student of western history. Beyond the Far Horizon is filled with stories from her childhood. She listened intently as her grandmother talked about driving a covered wagon across the Kansas prairie on her honeymoon and the adventures of an eastern Colorado homestead.
Catherine travels down the trails in her books. She has lived on the Kansas prairie, walked near Ralston Creek in the Colorado Rockies where gold and silver were king, and writes about the hardships and triumphs of those who were brave enough to seek their future on a dangerous trek.
Although she has worked in a wide variety of jobs, her most memorable was working as a park ranger in Yellowstone National Park for eleven years. She lives in rural Kansas with her family and animals. As an associate professor, she encourages her college students to research and write about their own passions.
