Overview

If The Big Picture (2009) was his more pop effort, and The Whole Truth (2011) was a more balanced album of crossover and underground rap, Love Hope War is Christian rapper Da' T.R.U.T.H.'s unapologetic blast of Christian lifestyle declamation, fueled by aggressive hip-hop productions. Key track "Table Talk" lays it all on the line with "Even our peers are tellin' us not to get too carried away/Now I'm afraid to speak out against gays marrying gays/And I'm so slow to be vocal, 'cuz they'll say I'm loco," setting the tone for an album that's strict, provocative, and aimed directly at those who, in Da' T.R.U.T.H.'s opinion, dilute the Gospel. Those who stray are encouraged to return to the Lord, as is the case with the suicidal subject of "Where Was I," but forgiveness isn't going to stand in the way of the rapper's true purpose, as "D.O.S." (Death of Silence) declares "It ain't time to be peacemaking, man it's time to get violent!" ~ David Jeffries
