Liz Carey lives and works in Anderson, SC. As a 20-year veteran of the newspaper industry, she has received numerous awards for her work including awards from the South Carolina Press Association, the Queen City Society of Professional Journalists, the Kentucky Press Association and the Suburban Newspapers of America. A graduate of Miami University, she started her career writing for EveryBody's News, sometimes under the pseudonym of Ivana B. Rude. In 2006, she was named Woman of the Year in Media in Cincinnati. After moving to Anderson in 2007, she worked for the Anderson Independent Mail and garnered awards for her work in county reporting and education coverage, winning the Judah P. Benjamin award for public service from the United Daughters of the Confederacy for her work on a series of pieces covering the 150th anniversary of the Civil War.
