About the Author

'Aumua Mata'itusi Simanu is a lifelong educator and scholar of the Sāmoan language and culture. She worked for the Department of Education in Samoa for forty-five years. Since 1987 she has been teaching Sāmoan oratory and history at the University of Hawai'i.
