About the Author

Margaret P. Korb, called Pat by her friends, was director and director of training at The Gestalt Center of Gainesville, Florida, until she passed away in 2009. She was a therapist and trainer in Gestalt therapy for eighteen years in graduate-level courses at the University of Florida and in private practice for over twenty-five.

Jeffrey Gorrell received his Ph.D. in educational psychology from the University of Florida in 1975. He is Professor of Educational Psychology at Southeastern Louisiana University and also teaches counseling courses in the graduate school.

Vernon Van De Riet received his graduate training in clinical psychology at Florida State University and completed his internship at the Judge Baker Guidance Center and Harvard University Medical Center in Boston. From 1962 to 1979, he was on the faculty of the Department of Clinical Psychology at the University of Florida, where he conducted a Gestalt therapy training program for ten years. He is a certified Gestalt therapist and has extensive training and experience in the Freudian, Rogerian, and Jungian approaches to personality and psychotherapy. He is also a certified trainer in psychosynthesis. Since 1979, Dr. Van De Riet has been director of Affiliated Psychological Services in South Pasadena, California. Along with his private practice, he conducts an on-going Gestalt therapy training program. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Psychotherapy and a member and past officer of the Gestalt Therapy Institute of Los Angeles.
