Mike Simon was twelve years old when he suffered his first heart failure. Unbeknownst to anyone, he was born with Wolf, Parkinson, White's Syndrome, a mysterious disease that wasn't even given a name for another ten years. Prior to 1975, most people with WPW died. Those who were lucky enough to survive were either diagnosed as drug-abusers, or mentally ill.

Forced to endure twenty-nine heart surgeries, five lung surgeries, five pacemakers, and dozens of other procedures over a period of twenty years, Mike was denied disability and medical benefits by an unethical employer, who claimed he was never too sick to return to work.
