Overview

A stunning merger and boardroom coup result in the mass firing of the large corporate headquarters staff of Khort Corporation, an agricultural equipment manufacturer located in the Midwestern company town of Wennona. Toby Hayes, a top Khort executive deposed by the coup, agrees reluctantly to join with Khort's disgruntled ex-security director to investigate the topsy-turvy merger and possible murder of the company's powerful former chairman and CEO. Complications arise for Toby Hayes when his eight years long illicit love affair with a company secretary risks exposure by possible conspirators during the investigation, placing his comfortable marriage and stature in town in jeopardy. As rumors abound and layoff trauma spreads in the community, a secret plan is discovered during a night time break-in to executive suite in Khort Tower headquarters. Attempts to disrupt the plan lead to a series of ironic twists. A surprising romantic relationship and a wry conspiracy theory drag Hayes deeper and deeper into a pursuit for answers. Resolving his love for two women and saving his marriage eventually leads him to a shocking conclusion.
