About the Author

Steven A. Griffin is a writer who has specialized in the outdoors for his entire career. He is author or co-author of nine books, including Snowshoeing, The Camping Sourcebook, The Fishing Sourcebook, First Aid for Youths (with Buck Tilton), and a four-book Outdoor Kids series with his then-elementary-school-age daughter, Elizabeth. He writes regularly for Michigan Outdoor News, the Midland (MI) Daily News, and Michigan Out-of-Doors magazine and has won dozens of outdoor writer organization awards at the state, regional, and national level for both writing and photography. He has also taught journalism at Central Michigan University. Steve lives in the ice-fishing state of Michigan.
