Overview

Stressed and frustrated, Rebecca sent Paul off to his deployment in Iraq with the cruel word 'separation' ringing in his ears. Not knowing if he even had a marriage to return to, Paul was reported Missing In Action. Now it might be too late for amends. Rebecca is faced with more than her guilt and her fear for Paul's safety. Someone has ransacked their home. To Rebecca, the destruction seems too deliberate to be random vandalism; they were looking for something specific - becoming so enraged when they didn't find it that they systematically destroyed her possessions. With her sense of security shattered Rebecca is afraid that the vandals will return. Isolated and vulnerable, she is desperate for someone to lean on.

About the Author

Valerie Franklin has always wanted to write. She wrote her first book in sixth grade and her mother still has it. In high school she was the editor of her school newspaper and thought she wanted to be a journalist, but her shyness made interviewing almost impossible. So she decided that journalism wasn't the career for her and turned to her second love - accounting.

After spending five years in the Army, where she met and married her husband John and started a family, the bug to write came again. Watching the antics of her four children, she decided to get a degree in Children's Literature and write children's books, but even as she wrote short stories for her children she didn't pursue publishing them.

Then came the Harry Potter phenomenon and she began writing Harry Potter fan fiction under the pseudonym of Professor Scroll. Reading the reviews on her stories gave her the impetus to sign up for NaNoWriMo and cram a years' worth of writing into the month of November.

This novel is the third one she's written during NaNoWriMo.
