Meet the Writers
A multi-talented artist, Julia Glass -- author of the National Book Award-winning Three Junes -- also used to be a painter. In our interview, Glass discussed how her past as a painter has colored her writing. "I did not notice how heavily my training in visual art influenced my writing until after Three Junes was published, when I was reading out loud from it," she recalls. "Only then did I really see how the evocation of scene and setting is such an integral part to my writing, and I obviously write that way because I was looking at things as a painter for over a decade."
