Spy novelist extraordinaire Daniel Silva is known for his expertly crafted plots of international intrigue conveyed with passionate prose. In our interview, Silva talks about the thrill of writing his first novel, back in 1994. "I wrote it in secret when I was working for CNN," he reveals. "I would write for a couple of hours in the morning, and then put my news hat on and start producing my television programs. To write for the pure joy of writing, without a contract or a deadline, without expectation of publication -- it was just liberating."
