Spy magazine co-founder, columnist, and radio host, Kurt Andersen is also the acclaimed author of Turn of the Century and the historical epic, Heyday. In our interview, Andersen talks about the challenges of writing fiction. "Writing is writing," he reflects, "but to me, writing fiction requires a different headspace -- I mean, really, making stuff up. And coming to making stuff -- up after twenty years of trying to stick to the facts -- was a very different experience."
