What is a Bulk Order?

A Bulk Order is an order for 50 or more copies of the same title. In many cases, Barnes & Noble.com can give discounts on orders of this size. To request a price quote, please complete the Request For Pricing Form, and depending on current volume we will respond within 3 business days or sooner from receipt of your request. (Response time may increase or decrease depending on the size of the request.) Please note: We do not discount Bargain Titles, Gifts, Used & Out of Print Books from our Authorized Sellers, Music or Video products, or PC & Video Games.


How do I reach Bulk Orders?

If you have any additional questions or comments, please email the Bulk Orders Department directly at bulkorders@book.com. Please be sure to include your Quote Number in the subject of your email.


How do I receive a Bulk Discount?

  • To request a Price Quote, please complete the Request For Pricing Form, and depending on current volume we will respond within 3 business days or sooner from receipt of your request. (Response time may increase or decrease depending on the size of the request.)
  • Once you receive your Price Quote, if you are interested in affording yourself of the additional Bulk Order discount, the order must be placed through the Bulk Orders Department by faxing your Order Form to 1-212-414-6535.



What information is needed to place an order?

If you would like to place an order, please send a fax of your Order Form to 212-414-6535. We require the following information:
  1. Name, phone number, company/institution
  2. Date when the titles need to arrive (MM/DD/YYYY) - full date required.
Shipping Information:

  1. Ship-to address (including City, State and Zip)
  2. Ship-to telephone number
If paying via Credit Card please provide:

  1. Credit Card Number and Expiration Date.
  2. Exact Name on the Credit Card
  3. Exact Bill-to address of the Credit Card (including City, State and Zip)
  4. If applicable -- Please provide daily limits and/or transaction limits on Credit Card Provided Above
If paying via Barnes & Noble.com Purchase Order please provide:

  1. Your Barnes & Noble.com Purchase Order Account Number and your Company's Internal Purchase Order Number.



Does Bulk Orders ship to multiple addresses?

Yes, we do! Please contact us at bulkorders@book.com for further instructions and applicable fees.


What payment options do you accept?

We accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, Diners Club, JCB, and the Barnes & Noble.com Purchase Order Account Number.

Please note: The Bulk Orders program is separate from our consumer program and does not accept the following methods of payment: Barnes & Noble Gift Cards, Gift Certificates, and Coupons. It cannot be combined with other B&N.com offers or discounts.



How do I pay by Purchase Order?

  • Account setup is required if paying by Purchase Order.
  • Purchase Orders are accepted for purchases of $500 or more.
  • Please fill out our Purchase Order Application and apply online.
  • Please allow 72 business hours for credit approval.

How do I apply my Barnes & Noble Membership discount?

As a Member, you can afford yourself of the Membership discount or the Bulk Order discount, whichever is more beneficial, but the two cannot be combined.


Why does Bulk Orders charge Shipping and Handling?

We handle our Bulk Orders outside our system to facilitate the processing and delivery of these large orders; therefore, due to the weight and handling, and your fulfillment requirements, there may be a Shipping and Handling fee that is included in our quotes.


What time does my order have to be received by the Bulk Orders Department in order to have processing begin the same day?

If you would like to have processing of your order begin on the day of acceptance, please ensure that we receive your order no later than 2 p.m. ET. If we do not receive your order by 2 p.m. ET, processing will begin on the next business day. Processing time will take roughly 3-4 business days (may increase or decrease depending on order requirements).


Does Bulk Orders check inventory before supplying a Price Quote?

  • On requests of 50 to 999 copies, inventory will be checked at the time the quote is accepted. Once we receive your faxed order form, we will confirm that these titles are available. Inventory is subject to change.
  • On requests of 1000 copies or more, inventory will be checked at the time a Price Quote is requested. Inventory is subject to change.



Where is my price quote?

If you do not receive a response to your request for a bulk order price quote within three business days, there is a good chance this email is being blocked by email filtering software.

This software can be hosted in any of the following places:
  • Your computer's email system
  • The email system at your place of work
  • By an email provider (see list below)
  • By an Internet service provider
If You Use an Email Filter
If the email system on your computer uses a filter or spam blocker, please add
to your address book or "white list" to ensure that you receive emails about your query. While your are there, we suggest you also add support@book.com to ensure that you receive emails about your order status.

If Your Company or Network Uses Email Filters
Please contact your email system administrator or Internet service provider to see if a filter or spam blocker is in use.

If Your Email Provider Uses Email Filters
Some Internet service providers or web-based email providers (see list below) have email filters or restrictions that may prevent our emails from reaching you. If you think that email from Barnes & Noble.com is being blocked, we suggest you add service@barnesandnoble.com, aboutyourrequest@barnesandnoble.com, and orders@gamestop.com to the address book or contact list offered by your email provider.

How long is a Price Quote valid?

Price Quotes are valid for 10 business days. If a Price Quote is accepted after 10 business days, you will receive an Updated Price Quote for your approval or rejection.


Where is my Order Number?

We handle our Bulk Orders outside our system; therefore, each Bulk Order has its own unique Quote Number. Your Quote Number is provided on your Price Quote.


Is a Bulk Order Returnable?

No. Bulk Orders with Barnes & Noble.com are non-returnable. Although, should there be an event where a return is approved, the return is subject to a $2 per item restocking fee. (Any shipping fees incurred at the time of ordering and the shipping fees incurred to ship back the order, if approved for return, will not be refunded.)


Can I pick up my Bulk Order at my local Barnes & Noble Retail Store?

Bulk Orders placed through the Barnes & Noble.com Bulk Orders Department do not currently qualify for Pick-up Service from Barnes & Noble.com or from a Barnes & Noble Retail Store location.


How much does it cost to ship a Bulk Order internationally?

International Shipment (outside of the contiguous United States) Charges are based on weight and destination. If interested in shipping internationally, please provide full ship-to address, including postal code, at the time you request a price quote.


Is tax charged on Bulk Orders?

  • In accordance with applicable law, Barnes & Noble.com collects tax in all states.
  • Goods and Services Tax (GST) is applicable on shipments to Canada.
