How much does the Membership cost and how long does it last?

The Membership fee is currently $25 for one year.* Your Membership will expire 12 months after the date of purchase, on the last day of the calendar month in which it was purchased.

* Membership fees may be taxed in accordance with state laws. Annual fee of $25 does not include applicable taxes.



What are the benefits of Membership?

* 20% off the list price on Adult Hardcovers. Choose from a wide selection of your favorite books as well as textbooks.
* 10% off Barnes & Noble price on CDs, DVDs, juvenile books, paperback books, bargain books, sale items, hardcovers already discounted below list price, and everything in the store Café*
* Special offers via email and valuable discounts throughout the year

* 40% Member discount off the list price on B&N Hardcover Bestsellers and 20% Member discount off the list price on Adult Hardcovers may not be combined with 10% Member discount off the B&N price of other items. Except for percentage discounts generally available on products sold online and in stores, Member discounts may not be combined with any other coupon or any cash discount promotion and is not redeemable for cash or cash equivalents (including Gift Cards). Members do not receive discounts on the purchase of: used and out-of-print books available through Barnes & Noble BookQuest; Gift Cards; Online Gift Certificates; items from www.bn.com's PC & Video Games store; gift-wrapping; shipping or handling fees; or any Barnes & Noble Membership fee (new or renewal). The Barnes & Noble Member Card cannot be used for discounts at Barnes & Noble College Bookstores.



How soon will I receive my Barnes & Noble Member Card in the mail if I purchase my Membership online?

Your Member Card will arrive approximately one week after your purchase date.


Can I use the Member Card in all Barnes & Noble bookstores? What about in Barnes & Noble College bookstores? B. Dalton?

The Member card may be used to get discounts at all Barnes & Noble bookstores as well as B. Dalton, Bookstop, Bookstar, Doubleday, Ink Newsstand, and Charlesbank bookstores.

Member discounts are not available at Barnes & Noble College bookstores.



What personal information is needed to become a Member?

We ask you to supply your name, mailing address, phone number, and email address. In order to assist us in tailoring the Barnes & Noble Member Program to better serve you, we may also ask you for other information from time to time.


I like the benefits but I don't want to give you my personal information, such as name, address, and email. Can I just pay the $25 and get the Member Card?

By providing us with your name, address, and email address, we can deliver exclusive Member-only benefits, such as special offers and discounts. We also request your personal information so that we can provide the best possible service. If you lose your Member Card or require other assistance from the Member Service Center, we will be limited in the help we can provide if there is no Member profile in your account.

What if I join now but decide later that I no longer want to be a Member? Can I get a refund?

If you purchased your Membership at a Barnes & Noble bookstore, you may cancel the Membership at any store within 30 days of the purchase date for a full refund with the original receipt. If you purchased your Membership online at www.bn.com, you may contact the Member Service Center at 1-866-238-READ within 30 days of the purchase date for a full refund.

After 30 days, Membership fees are non-refundable. Partial refunds of the Membership fee are not available.



How will I know when my Membership expires?

We will contact you prior to your expiration date to remind you that your Membership needs to be renewed. You may also sign up for our convenient Automatic Renewal option to guarantee uninterrupted Barnes & Noble Member benefits.


How much does it cost to renew my Membership?

The renewal Membership fee is currently $25 for one year.*

How do I apply for the Barnes & Noble MasterCard?
