Frequently Asked Questions

Can I get "Same Day in Manhattan" service?

Yes. We offer Same Day Delivery for eligible orders shipping to Manhattan, N.Y. To be eligible, each item in your order must be marked "Usually ships within 24 hours -- Same Day Delivery in Manhattan" on the product page. If any items in your order are not marked with the Same Day message, your order will not be eligible for Same Day Delivery in Manhattan. Orders must be placed by 11 a.m. ET, Monday through Friday, to qualify. Same Day Deliveries are made until 7 p.m. ET. Orders placed on New Year's Day, Good Friday, Thanksgiving, and Christmas are not eligible for Same Day Delivery. Same Day Delivery applies to deliveries in Manhattan, N.Y. only.

Why isn't my order eligible?

There are a number of reasons why an order might not be eligible for FAST&FREE DELIVERY.

  1. Your order contains only items that are not eligible for FAST&FREE DELIVERY, such as Gift Cards, Online Gift Certificates, downloadable PDFs from SparkNotes and Quamut, PC & Video Games, Magazines, and Used & Out of Print Books from our Authorized Sellers. All eligible items are marked with the following on their product page: "Fast & Free Delivery."
  2. Your order is shipping to a P.O. Box, Alaska, Hawaii, a military address (APO/FPO), or a U.S. Protectorate such as Puerto Rico, Guam, or the Virgin Islands.
  3. You changed your shipping preference to something other than "Send everything in as few packages as possible."

How are Fast&Free orders shipped?

We utilize UPS as our carrier for Fast Delivery. If you do not want to receive your order via UPS, please check the box labeled "This is a P.O. Box or Military address (APO or FPO)" on the Shipping Address detail page. You can edit your shipping address by clicking the link "edit shipping address" on the Shipping Options page or the Review page. You can also mark an address this way when you set up a new address. Please note: if you check this box, your order will no longer qualify for Fast Delivery.

What else should I know?

Business Days are Monday through Friday, excluding holidays observed by the Post Office and UPS, such as New Year's Day, Presidents' Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.

Delivery times are not guaranteed. However, orders that qualify for FAST&FREE DELIVERY usually arrive before 7 p.m. local time. Sometimes the availability of the items in your order may change while we are processing your order. In this event, you will receive an email notifying you of a delay, and the remaining eligible items in your order will be shipped as scheduled.

Our delivery partners reserve the right to require signatures for the delivery of certain packages. The UPS Customer Service Center is available to assist customers in arranging for delivery of packages that require a signature.
