Giacomo Puccini's Tosca

BOOK Italian composer Giacomo Puccini's TOSCA premiered in Rome. Building on the verismo, or realistic, style of Pietro Mascagni and Ruggiero Leoncavallo, Puccini's opera features an offstage torture scene, a firing squad, and a suicide.
