BOOK This portrait of the harsh existence of three Alabama cotton-farming families, told through Agee's poetic prose and Evans's stark photographs, was a major literary event.

Duke Ellington's "Take the A Train"

BOOK Duke Ellington recorded the classic "Take the A Train." Although it would soon become the band's theme song, the piece was actually composed by Ellington's writing and arranging partner, Billy Strayhorn.
