I bought a universal usb car charger at wal-mart for less than $5. It works just fine with my original cord that came with my nook.

I guess I got one of the few that were manufactured, and very happy I did. It works very well for both the Nook Color and Nook. In fact, using the standard Nook charging cord, I've charged cell phones with it also. ZERO problem.
I'm very happy with it.

But check to verify that your charger is compatible with the Nook. I have Verizon and it is compatible for the B&N Nook. Why buy another charger when you already have one for your phone.

i find it unacceptable that you have a product on your site that is not available for purchase - poor customer service indeed

Already have the charger cord that my NOOKcolor came with (and an extra one). I just need the actual charger. Shouldn't that be only a few bucks?

The plastic pieces on the ends break off easily. I bought my NC in March and have gone through 3 cords already.

Thank goodness...I cannot go without my Nook Color and now I can charge it in the car or listen to the music that is on it! LOVE BN!!! I ordered it on line to pick up at the store and it was confirmed and waiting for me in 20 minutes!

I need only the charger for the car. I already have the cord. Why is this packaged in such a way as to force me to buy not only an extra cord for my nookcolor, but a cord for the nook reader that I do not even have and cannot use. Bad marketing move. It is things like this that have people recommending the A Kindle over the Nookcolor. Very dissappointing and forceing me to look elsewhere for nook color items.

I went to radio shack and bought a converter car charger for the Nookcolor. It converts ur electric chargers. It was a litte more money than the NookColor car charger but I can use it will other electric chargers. Have so many cords that it is driving me crazy. Why can't they make them all universal?

For those of you that were unable to find the Nook or Nook Color car charging kit -- check over at Amazon. They have several IN STOCK. But if you can just wait a week or so I am sure Barnes and Noble will get some in.
I'm just sayin...
Whether I buy it from Amazon or wait for them to be in the store at Barnes and Noble matters not to me. All I have to say is I LOVE MY NOOK COLOR!!!!!

I used my Nook car charger yesterday and discovered what I think is a design flaw. It charged my Nook. There was no problem there, but when I tried to take the charger out of my car's cig lighter socket the cord came out but the plug part stayed in the socket. It sat so deeply in the socket that I could not get a grip enough to pull it out. It finally took a pair of pliers. to pull it out by grabbing the outside of the plug and the slot for the USB cord. I will think twice about using this in my car again. I think the money spent on this was wasted if I have to worry about getting it unplugged when I am finished using it. I think it should be made with the plug part to be long enough that fingers can get a grip and pull it out of the lighter socket.

This charger is so hard to remove from the port that my husband had to use pliers to get it out! I think the engineers could have done something better than the slight lip they have on the sides to grasp onto. I had to rate it, so it got one star, for it does charge. If someone has had better luck charging their nookcolor, please let me know!

I refuse to buy this. All I need is the charger because I already have the cord on my wall charger. No wonder the landfills are full of electronic cords. Way to look out for the environment B&N. At least the phone companies have standardized their cords now.

I had one ordered on line before xmas and the order was cancelled. However, I found one at a local barnes and noble store. And it works great. I do have a question, is the cable for the car charger and the UC cable interchangable?

I find no airplane charging kit, for international travel, for Nook Color.
I find no battery which charges Nook Color for more than 8 hours.
I find to "power Monkey charger" e.g. Magellans' Travel supplies, for the Nook Color, with power reserve, four adaptor plugs, a 110-240V adaptor and connectors, for a Nook Color.
I should have spent $500 on books to put in my luggage for traveling, instead of wasting $ 500 on a Nook Color for traveling.
Does Barnes and Noble live in the Dark Ages?
How poor is Barnes and Noble Customer Service. . . it is soooo poor that no rich or poor person should waste $500 on the Nook Color

You don't need to buy this as most car charges are micro USB so you should be able to use that. Silly to spend the money

I tried a friend's charger hoping to have better luck with it than she did, but it had to be returned. Then tried a universal charger advertised to work with the NOOK; it didn't with my NOOKcolor. What did work! was a $9.95 Dual USB Car Phone Charger by Wireless that I purchased at WalMart. It works with the charging cable that comes with the NOOKcolor.

Overview
When you're on the road and you need to charge your NOOK, this Car Charging Kit will do the job. The low-profile charging head is compatible with every automotive make and model, and there are 2 cables included: one for NOOK Color or Nook Tablet, the other for NOOK Simple Touch and NOOK 1st Edition. The charging head has an LED light that comes on when charging in is progress. For added convenience, both cables also sync with your computer.
