I was specifically looking for a 'single" bookend, which is much harder to find then sets. This is really a very nice piece. While I bought mine online and was pleased with the one I got you should take note that each piece of Alabaster will vary and that the shade of green you see on your screen is probably not a good representation. If you have a B&N near you, this is an item you might want to consider picking up in person so you will be certain you know exactly what you are getting.

I've seen one of these in my local B&N for years now. I always joked with my girlfriend that I'd get her this pear. I finally got her one today and I know she's going to like it. It's a cool looking bookend. Definitely a quality piece for her to enjoy for years to come. Plus, it's from Italy, which I hold close to my heart. I'm glad I got it!

As a collector of representations of pears, I find this green Italian alabaster piece a gem - and currently the showcase of my collection! The marble is smooth and rich looking. A pair of these would make magnificent bookends. I have just the one displayed with a group of other pears made of glass, wax, teak, and other interesting media. The color is a luminous green that remains neutral in a collection, yet draws the eye immediately. This is a sophisticated and elegant decoration that looks great against the oak shelving I have placed it on, but would look equally smashing against darker wood.

Gave a set of two bookend pears as a gift. The recipient loved them. Use them for bookends or as a decoration. Either way they look great.

The recipient of a "pair of pears" was delighted! Even moving them out of the summer digs to the main house.

When the recepient opened her gift, she said "Wow" and the group said "OOOooo. Where'd you find that? It's lovely." etc. So, thanks to my local bookstore (yes I know it's a corporate giant etc) I hit one out of the park. Membership gives you a little discount and it's really a beautiful piece... she thought it was too nice to be stuck on a bookshelf and may put it somewhere else. I'm really pleased when my gifts are so well received.

This is a lovely work made in Italy and well worth the money. It's heavy and beautiful. I love this bookend.
