This is the only leather journal I will ever buy. I bought my first one in the mid-1990's. More than 15 years later, it remains peerless. The cover and binding are exceptionally well crafted, breathtakingly beautiful to look at and feel in your hands. The paper is lined as well as gold edged, not to mention its smooth surface makes it an ideal place in which to write with a favorite calligraphy pen or fountain pen, even a ballpoint pen. Ink dries quickly and stays sharp and legible years later. Take my word for it, this is an elegant gift. I give it to myself whenever I need a new place to go with my rollerball pens.

This journal is one of a kind. It is beautifully constructed, the pages are thick and sturdy, and it has a leather smell about it. It is embossed on the cover with a quill pen emitting a metallic blue ink line, which looks like a lightning bolt, from its tip. What's more, it is made of acid free material so it's perfect for archival. I got one as a gift and when I fill it up, I fully intend to buy another one.

I bought one of these twelve years ago and have loved it ever since. The binding is excellent, and the pages are made for a flowing pen to sketch out your thoughts about a particular project. The gilded-edges on the pages along with the embossed leather cover are particularly striking and really give the journal a certain class that I've yet to find in any other journal of similar size. If there' s one caveat I can think of, it has to do with the discontinuation of its little brother, which was pocket-sized, but had a similar look and feel. That was also a favorite of mine, and though I keep looking every so often whenever I happen to find myself at a Barnes & Noble, I'm always disappointed when I come up empty.

I have bought two of these journals and tomorrow morning I will be purchasing my third! I LOVE this journal! I have seen it for many, many years in the store but it always seemed so "grown up” to me. Now at age 26 I love it and wish I had tried it sooner! Now I think it is very elegant with the cover detail and the gold edging. To me it says “I have something to say and remember” or “novel in the making” lol. It is very well made and sturdy. The cover is thick and mine have never warped and I don’t think they would. The pages are a nice medium thickness. I use Piolet G-2 jell pens in it and the colors contract nicely and don’t bleed through. If you glue something to a page the page stays flat; it doesn’t crinkle. It has 120 sheets (240 pages). The pages are a cream color and the lines are pretty light and well-spaced at 5/16 inches. On the inside where the book block is glued to the inside paper, it is very minimal to make it easier to use the first page! I would recommend it all day long! Was this review helpful? This is the best journal I have ever seen. The excellent paper with a beautiful smooth leather cover, with a highly elegant golden fore edge make it a remarkable aesthetically subject. This is excellent and I highly recommend it.Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.

Not having the best handwritting in the world I find that having an excellent quilty paper helps me tremendously when doing a personal journal. The paper in this particular journal is the best I have ever found and I have tried many. The feel of the paper the way it accepts many types of ink, and even a pencil if my favorite pens are not available. The looks and feel of the cover also give you a mental boost when writing Spoil yourself and try it just once you won't be sorry.
