I love this Messenger bag. It's roomy enough to hold my HP Notebook PC, external DVD drive, mouse, cords and power bricks, and still has ample room for two large hardback books (but for me just a tad to heavy for two) and four thick paperbacks. Love the workmanship, very sturdy and no buckles, just a couple of magnets to hold the flap down. Three zippered pockets, two snapped pockets, cell phone & pen holders, and a clip for your keys. The strap is adjustable so you can hand carry it or sling it over your shoulder. It was the scroll work design that caught my eye, wish I had a laptop to match it -- that would be so cool. If you're heading off to college I would recommend this as the perfect and stylish text book carrier.

I actually use it as a purse/diaper bag too. I accidently spilled some water on the inside and this bag actually HELD this water in so I imagine its very water resistant.
The canvas is woven tight and strong. It has several handy pouches.
The only thing that I think would make this better is perhaps having a snap for the middle enclosure or making a snap or a tighter enclosure for the flap when you fold it over.
Other than that I highly recommend this bag over anything you may find at a Walmart, Kmart etc. The quality beats any competitors out of the water.

Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.I bought this bag after getting a new job, that required me to carry a lot of tech manuals with me on a daily basis. This bag was large enough for all of my books and manuals as well as the usual extra stuff such as notebooks, pens, calculators, and other misc. The construction of the bag is excellent. The canvas it is made from rates an A+ and the overall design is first rate. The design on the front of the bag is very nice and has held up well. There are just two minor design flaws in the bag. Ther first is the shoulder strap, it does not have a padded area and if you have a heavy load in the bag the shoulder strap can become slightly painful if you need to carry it for a long time. The second minor flaw is the magnets used to keep the flap closed. They only work if you don't have very much stuff in the bag, otherwise they will not match up to keep the flap closed.
Overall This is a GREAT bag. Slightly overpticed but worth it.

I have been searching all over for ther perfect messenger bag, and I think this is it. It holds a few books, my wallet, keys, phone, and a couple of spiral bound notebooks perfectly. I love the design on the front, and I love the fact that it doesn't feel huge. Everything else I looked at was gigantic. The only drawback is that it doesn't have latches. That is good sometimes, because you aren't bending over your bag all of the time trying to latch and unlatch it; but at other times it is difficult to get the front to match up with the little magnets. Still, I am so happy with this bag!

Just before Christmas, I was browsing Barnes & Noble and saw the Black Scroll Design Canvas Messenger Bag. I selected it as a holiday gift for my younger sister. The gift was a great success. It had more space and was more attractive than her previous bag. She immediately packed it to take to her office and has given me favorable reports of her use of the bag since. She works as a marketing rep. I work as a realtor, and am considering buying this bag or a similar one for myself.

When I first took it out of the packing I was worried it wouldn't hold all of my school books and supplies! Much to my delight I can fit all that I need and then some in it!!! Great quality!!!

I have owned this bag for three years now. My mood shifts every now and again to use a new bag, but I quickly come back to this one. It has held up great, holds many things, and keeps them in order. Love this bag!

The bag is very durable, and more than large enough for most needs. The front flap likes to fold outwards and so not close properly. The magnets do a good job keeping it clasped, however. It has a strong, adjustable strap and enough pockets for most things. There is plenty of space where other pockets could have been placed, and the one for cell phones could stand to be larger with the trend towards larger screens on phones.
There is no ribbing, so the bag will not hold its shape when it does not have books or other large flat items.
It is lightweight, attractive, durable, and spacious. It is a good bet for a canvas messenger bag.

I really like the appearance of the bag. It looks casual and cool. Even my 15 year thought so when he saw it. The compartments are well thought out, but it does not sit comfortably on the shoulders. It does not close using a zipper or a clasp, but with magnets. The zipper pouch on the back does not hold full size papers or binders so it is used primarily to hold not as useful things. I would have liked to use this bag to hold my netbook, but there is not a separate compartment.

I bought the Black Scroll Design Canvas Messenger Bag and I LOVE IT!
I needed a new carry all type bag for my job and thought a messenger bag would fit my needs. This one is wonderful...it carries all that I need for my job as a merchandiser. It has plenty of room for all my stuff that is anything from a 1 1/2 inch notebook to a hand held scanner to a box cutter, other tools to the rest of my things. The bag is well made, very sturdy and the shoulder strap sits comfortably and doesn't cut into my shoulder even though I probably carry around 20 lbs in it. I would definitely recommend this bag for anyone that needs it for school or their job. It's nice looking and I get a lot of compliments on it when I am at my job.

this bag is perfect for me. its large enough to hold all of my books, and has plenty of pockets to keep me organized. it has durable fabric, i have used it for about 5 months and so far it has kept up with my demands. there has yet to be any loose hems or loosening fabric like many other bags that usually falls apart after a few months. i have used it to carry my laptop, but its not well padded for it. i also like the fact that the bag uses magnets & snaps to keep the front flap closed. it eliminates the noisy velcro & clip sounds in a silent class room. the only con i can think about this bag, is it doesn't come with a shoulder strap pad (an easy fix). the strap is wide enough so it doesn't dig into your shoulder.i highly recommend this bag.

I got this to use as a diaper bag for my 2 kiddos and it is great! I am not a big fan of average diaper bags and wanted something that was stylish and still affordable, this met both needs. I love the look of the bag, even my husband doesn't mind carrying this when he is out with the kids. A great bonus is that it also fits my larger 17" laptop! It is a little difficult to fit everything in so that the front magnetic flap closes but other than that it is great.

This is just a great canvas bag that one can use for a lot of purposes. It is lightweight, has many pockets, and does not look huge eventhough it can hold quite a bit. It is sturdy--great to hold books or art supplies. It can hold gadgets that have cushions--such as laptops, calculators, cameras, and other gadgets. It can also hold light sports clothing or picnic stuff. It looks nice but does not stand out.

This is a great bag that is lightweight and has lots of room. I can carry my 15" screen laptop in it and not feel like my arm is going to drop off with the extra weight. Great for carrying books and art supplies too! Durable, looks great. I get lots of compliments when I'm carrying it - which is often. Love it and highly recommend it.

I was pleased to find this bag since I needed to replace my current bag. It has several size zipper compartments as well as 2 side pockets and a large central compartment. Just right for my tutoring needs. It is compact and the material is of the light- weight variety. I am very pleased with my find. It was also on sale at the time of my purchase so with my membership discount "the price was right."

This is a durable, not to mention, good looking bag. My daughter uses it for her school books. It is holding up well. No stress showing on the straps or inside. Great choice.
