    Not great for textbooks

If I only read the middle of my textbooks, which nobody does, this product would be great. But I read the front and back of my textbooks and the bookhug won't hold the books. The reason why the book doesn't work, after carfeul observation is that when you read the front or back of the book, both sides of the book are not even and the bookhug doesn't work because it doesn't adjust to this fact.

A "must have" accessory for any NOOK owner!

I am able to leave my NOOK Tablet and my NOOK Color inside their individual covers and I can display each Nook (cover open or closed), PORTRAIT or LANDSCAPE, in their own Bookhug. I also used Bookhugs to store my covered NOOK 1st Edition (3G+Wi-Fi) and Simple Touch when they weren’t in use. The Bookhug is stable. Although it doesn’t fold up, it’s small and light enough to take on trips. It contributes to neatness and prevents me from accidently setting down other things on top of my NOOKs. In my opinion, this product provides a better display stand solution than any other product available in the entire NOOK accessory line (as of 01/09/2012). I’m a happy Nookie with Bookhugs.

Awesome! It does what it is supposed to and didn't cost a fortune.

I bought the bookhug to help me with holding text books at an angle easy for reading while working on the computer. It is great! It easily supports both paperback and hardback text of all heights and thicknesses up to 2 inches. I sort out the pages I need and put the rest of the pages under the two tabs provided to support the book and there is no interference in turning the pages. I have not had a problem with tipping over due to weight or height. I am very satisfied with this purchase and would recommend it to others.

Book Holder - Great for Anyone

I have a disability, which limits the use of my left arm. My books are one thing that I have a difficult time holding, so I went looking for a book holder to solve the problem. On one of my many trips to B & N I looked specifically for this item and found the Bookhug Holder, which has proved to be more than satisfactory. It is heavy enough to maintain balance and remain upright, yet not too heavy for anyone. I do find a flat surface the best place to use it and I have a lap top desk that works just great. The holder requires placing the book in the holder and each side has a lip at the bottom, which holds the pages in place, so I just turn the pages with my right arm and never have to use my left arm. What an answer to the simple reading of a book, which had become very difficult without suffering severe pain in a matter of minutes. I highly recommend this product and for the price, I believe it was around $14.95. Well worth every penny.

    Sturdy and secure

I like the Book Hug so much that, having lost one, I hurried out to replace it with the exact same model of bookholder. If you like to read while eating, as I do, then this is a great tool. It provides a secure resting place even for heavy books, propping your reading material up to an excellent angle. If I have any quibble at all with the Book Hug (beside it's name), it is that it's not really designed to be carried around; while it is light, it is also awkward and inflexible. These are not qualities that keep it from being a very useful thing to have.

Good for a limited selection of books

Some books are large enough and thin enough for this stand to be adequate. It does not work well with standard size paperbacks or thicker hardcover books.

    It works for me!

I don't really understand the problem others are claiming to have with large books-- I've used the Bookhug on the Norton Anthology of American Lit without a problem, nor have I had a problem with other large books. I think what they may be doing is trying to fit ALL of the pages under the bottom flanges-- but that would only work with short books. If you put enough pages under each flange to hold the book, you should be able to leave it open without a problem. Believe it or not. I am now buying one for my mother, whose arthritis makes it difficult for her to hold a book.

Bookhug Bookholder (Silver & Black, Textured)

I was looking for a bookholder and I came across the bookhug. After reading the reviews, most people gave it 5 stars and one guy said it was garbage. I bought the bookhug and it didn't hold most of my books. It worked for my smaller novels, but other then that I wish I never bought it.I should have listened to the guy who said it was garbage.

    good for small, thin books

I like this product although I thought it was a bit over-priced. I like to use it for my smaller, and thiner books. Bookhug claims it can hold almost any size book which is true, but it can not effectively hold most books (I feel the claims made by the bookhug are misleading) . When I read the middle of a book, both side are even and thus the bookhug can hold the book effectively. The bookhug didn't really work well when I read near the front or back of the book because both sides of the book are not even. When I tried using it for my soft cover books the bookhug really didn't work (book has the shape of the golden arches) . Overall, I like using the bookhug for my small, thin books (hardcover and softcover).

Bookhug Bookholder (Silver & Black, Textured)

I bought this bookholder so I can use it for when I study, but I ended up not using it at all because it's just more comfortable when I don't use it. Most of the time this bookholder held my book up in a awkward position and I still needed to use my hands to hold the pages down. When I tried using it for my soft cover books it never held up the book effectively, the product is not designed to support soft cover books and mid to large size books. It did hold up some of my novels, and smaller books. I guess it works for smaller books, the types of books this thing can hold is very limited, not like it claims.

Just bought this and already LOVE IT!! I am a college student and one of the most frustrating things is having to crane my neck in order to read my textbook while I'm studying. This book holder is just what I have been looking for to hold up my textbooks. It works really well for small to medium thickness textbooks. I'm not sure if it would work very well for very thick textbooks. I'm so glad I was able to find this!

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU BUY THIS! Very useful for college students

    Useful. Cheap. Sturdy.
My textbooks are really heavy so at first I thought this product would not work, but I was wrong. Its perfect!
I went to the store and tested out all the other products. I really like this one because it doesn't take as much space compared to the other book holders. Room space is important since I live in the dorm.

    The Hug holds Psalms

The Hug is quite satisfactory. We use it to hold a somewhat large, decorated volume of Psalms and the device holds the book open to it can be read easily, and is itself not in the way of reading. I recommend it

Bring back the Itty Bitty Book Mate!

Why don't you bring back the 'Itty Bitty Book Mate' bookholder? I have one that is 10 years old and really DOES hold all sizes of books open, plus it folds up flat to go in my purse. It's great, and I am constantly asked where it can be bought. I can't find them anywhere, tho B&N used to carry them.

If I only read the middle of my books I would use this bookholder all the time, but that is not the case. When I tried reading the front and back of my books this bookholder it didn't effectively hold my book.

Whoever says 'garbage' has a user problem

I've had one of these BookHugs for some time, and I find that not only do they live up to the claims made about them, but they're even cooler and more useful than advertised. I use mine to read lying on my belly in bed and to hold up my books while doing yoga. All it takes to hold a floppy book is putting a hard book behind it. I don't know what 'sam' is reading, but all that this bookholder can't handle is a dictionary. I really appreciate that it's not clunky and has no moving parts, and no screen, either, like most 'cookbook' holders have. It holds your average novel like nobody's business! I love mine! 5 stars for the holder, a bonus for the box!

    Superb!

I adore Bookhug - I've tried other products like it and none compare to the slick little design, quality, price and functionality. It can hold everything from recipe books, to the book I'm reading while I dry my hair (one of my favourite uses for Bookhug), to lovely books that I just want to display. Highly recommended.

Bookhug Bookholder (Silver & Black, Textured)

As an author, I regularly consult books and papers while writing. The Bookhug has proven invaluable for keeping a book open when I need to refer to or transcribe specific passages. In addition, by placing a legal-sized clipboard (back to front) or a piece of rigid cardboard in a Bookhug, I can simultaneously view two letter-sized pages, side by side and at a convenient angle. I also use Bookhug to display my book (both closed and open) when I sell it at shows, markets and readings. As you can guess, I own several Bookhugs and wouldn't be without them!
