I am old enough to require bi-focals and prefer to read at the kitchen table. Magazines with glossy paper present a very real glare problem with that combination. This stand eliminates the problem for me. I wish I had thought of it years earlier.

Bottom cannot support large textbooks (i.e. college biology textbook). I don't know how it would support a cookbook since my textbook is roughtly the same size/shape/weight as a cookbook. It cracked after only 1 week of using it. Although it looks nice, it's not as sturdy as it seems. It's definitely not worth $25.00.

Got this for the office. Put a day planner on it, 1 lb if that. Within one hour the higne broke. Called B&N about a refund/exchange, nothing. The sell a "Cookbook" stand with about 2 millimeters of wood holding the bottom ledge up and when it brakes won't stand behind their product. Let me repeat DO NOT BUY THIS STAND. It is a nice looking paperwait and when it brakes B&N will be happy to have your money and leave you to recycle the pieces.

I was pleased with this product initially, but unfortunately, it broke after a few weeks of use. The screws that hold the hinges on are too short and they fell out. It can be fixed, but I am disappointed in the quality of craftmanship.

I have been searching for a couple of months for a decent, sturdy book stand that could support the huge books I have to read for law school. Most stands collapse under the weight, but this is sturdy wood and won't bend under my largest books. I also love that it's lightweight, but is cleverly designed to folds completely flat for storage. It's also got neat little doodads to hold a page in place - which might come in handy if I can ever use it for a cookbook stand. Until then, more studying. :-)
I've honestly only been using this for about an hour now, but I was so happy with it I had to run right out to add this review. This is one of the best purchases I've made this year - and the price was definitely right compared to some of the other options I'd seen.

I bought this as a gift for a friend who loves to cook (is an excellent cook)and frequently uses cookbooks. She is absolutely in love with this rack. The page holders are what is missing in most stands. It is attractive and sits on the counter all the time. She is in love with the item and so am I.

Sturdy and useful book stand. The little woods holding book pages are rather flimsy but still durable; better than other products.

I bought this for a friend for Christmas since she just had her kitchen redone. She called me to tell how much she loved it, how it fit on her new shelf and the color matched to the T. It is of great quality. I would buy one for myself and recommend it to others.

This is one of the nicest book stands I have seen. Easy, to assemble, nice looking, holds heavy and fairly large books, and folds down for easy storage. I gave this as a gift, she loved it. I hated to give it away! I would definitely buy it for myself.

I just started (night) law school and wanted a bookstand so I wouldn't strain my neck with the thousands of future hours spent reading. I normally will choose the cheapest functional product in what I'm looking for, but when I saw the beautiful wood on this bookstand, I just had to treat myself to it. It's still pretty reasonable for what you get. The first week I used it in classes, at least half of dozen other students commented on how great it was and asked where I got it. Treat yourself to one!

I use the holder for my regular books when I want to read while I have lunch, etc. I bought one for a friend who had a stroke and lost the use of her dominant arm. She loved to read and I wanted her to have some independence because it was difficult to hold a book and to turn pages.

I love my cookbook stand! I purchased it as a gift for my girlfriend but I use it more than she does! It's a terrific and very beautiful addition to the kitchen. I am thinking of getting another one for myself and more for gifts!
