Quill Feather and Ink Set

Bought this for my 13 year old son. He was extremely impressed with it and has it out on his desk. He likes to write and has been using it for some of the fantasy stuff he is writing and also for some of his history assignments.

Not a bad set

I am new to quill writing, but found this quill pretty sturdy, is comfortable in the hand, and writes pretty well. I'm sure the more practice I get from use the more I will enjoy this pen.

One of the best Quills ever

This is on of the best Quill I have ever used. I love the tip. It has a very fine tip. I also like the fact that it comes with its own ink. Even tho the ink is not the best. It is good for practicing. It also looks great even tho the feather is not real. If you are looking for a quill to start with this is the one I recommend.

The Art of Writing

I have bought several of these and am teaching myself and my 2 kids Caligraphy and we all love it. It brings us back to the feelings of how people must have felt prior to 1900 and slows down the writing process allowing us all to focus. We are finding it very enjoyable. The ink is particularly beautiful and has a pearlescent sheen that dresses up each letter and word. It's great for writing in baby books etc... or writing letters to friends that look beautiful.

ABSOLUTELY GREAT

This is a great quill! I've been writing calligraphy since I got this 2 years ago for christmas. The feather definitely doesn't look like the one on the pic, it isn't all frayed like that, but it has a really smooth ink flow and the ink is great too. TIPS on how to take care of it though are to get a cloth, not a rough towel or anything, but once you're done, or once the ink starts going out really quickly or comes in big blobs, wipe the nib a little then get a little water, or "pen cleaner" (not really any special cleaner) and dip the nib in, wipe it again, and keep doing that until all the ink is off. Slow process, but effective!

I love this quill

I got this beautiful quill for my birthday, and I have barely been able to put it down! It's so fun to write with and easy to take care of. I've tried cutting my own quills, but it's so much easier to write with this metal nib. I'd reccomend this product to anyone who likes to write.

Wow

Wow, this is a great quill and ink set. From reading the other reviews, I noticed some of them complained about the nib. Just go to Michaels or some other hobby stores, buy some, and use those instead. I don't see the problem though, it's fine by my standards. I'm ten, but I still love calligraphy and the sort.

Great Product

I bought this product yesterday and was highly satisfied. It has great weight to it and fits well in the hand. I am left-handed and it still works great even for me. The nib that comes with it is even pretty good. The pen is from France and the nib is from England. Great Quill

Great item for lovers of writing (like me)

I've always loved writing, and this quill has made it even more fun! I've written with everything except a quill. A typewriter, ballpoint, computer, fountain pen, but nothing could match the flow and feel of this quill. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

what i think

i don't have it (yet), but i think that why some people have problems is that they just press too hard!! all you need is a light grip!

Highly Recommended!

I love this pen! I have written at least 300 pages of my draft long hand and have not had any problem. Perhaps some of the problems some reviewers have had is only due to the way they slant the pen. Just a thought.

Something for Authentic writting.

Harry Potter fans will love, but adult supervision should be used with younger children/fans. As with any writting instrument there is a 'sweet spot' in the tool that once found will make for beautiful writting. The ink that comes with it is good ink, but I would recommend India ink. It's a bit thicker and flows better for quill writting. Caution: India ink is permanent. For anyone who has done calligraphy before the knowledge is helpful, but not necessarily required. The nib is very defined therefore you should use an easy hand when writting and cleaning. It's a very nice item to have.

It is really great, but it seems really messy! It reminds me of Harry Potter! Great for all those fans!

Satisfied Customer!!!

I loved it! It was awesome. Except I had a problem with the tip of the quill, because it split in two, causing it not being able to write at all. Other than that, it was very stylish and popular with all the Harry Potter fans!

Love It!

It was great for History class! My teachers love it. Other than the ink problem, its great!

Unsatisfied quill user

I use quill and ink often and I was not quite satisfied with this set when I bought it. The ink is great but the metal nib on the quill was not very good for writing. They need more selections in the different feathers they use(for decorative purposes). I also think the price is too high considering the quality of this set.

Cool

This is a neat and well made set. Don't spill the ink! If you do, for hardwood, use rubbing alcohol to get the bulk of it off, then Goof Off to get the blue tint out of the wood! *I know this from experience!*

Selection or not?

The quill and ink set it self sets a very classy mood to any home or office. Yet, as a paying customer i saw only 2-3 different quills over a 2 month period. As a shopper and a customer I do not appreciate this turn of events! I demand more choices!
