Overview

Fifty clever insights on romantic bliss comprising a sometimes subversive, anything-but-saccharine, always amusing ode to relationships.

Admit it—sometimes we just don't get where our better half is coming from. Are 23 pairs of black heels—each varying in heel height, number of straps, and degrees of self-inflicted foot pain—really necessary? Does a $5,000 Bose stereo system qualify as a "home improvement"? Inside I Love You Even Though . . . , coauthors Rebecca Murray Schuler and Christine Wiesedeppe-Regan offer nearly 50 sarcastic insights on romantic rapport paired with charming, edgy line-drawn illustrations. Perfectly timed for Cupid Day gift-giving, guys and gals will find that all the important relationship topics are covered: lawn mowing, ESPN's SportsCenter, her propensity to collect shoes in varying hues of black, and his ability to quote entire scenes from The Godfather but always forget three items on the grocery list. Although Schuler and Wiesedeppe-Regan indicate that debates will rage over the culinary merits of stuffing a beer can up a chicken's bottom and the fine line between talking, asking, and nagging, one thing remains certain, unequivocal, and dependable—that thing is love.

Sample entries include: I love you even though . . .

* You can effortlessly organize a fantasy football draft involving 12 guys, 6 cases of beer, 8 pizzas, and 5 orders of Buffalo wings, but forget to make dinner reservations for our anniversary.

* You don't understand the financial and emotional disparity between "Coach" being printed on a handbag and "Coach" being printed on an airline ticket.

* You declare that G.I. Joe is not a doll, but rather an American icon embodying man's primal need for social order and homeland security.

* You consider camouflage a color.

* Even though you sometimes don't get me and I sometimes don't get you...I love you.

    Fun Book, Great Gift,

Okay, clearly the reviewer who left a single star does not have a sense of humor. I received this gift, and as a guy, I think it's hysterical and not the least bit mean-spirited. I love the witty insights--not anywhere near the dreadful (and boring) things the single star reviewer posted within her quotes. It makes me wonder if she even read this book? Funny and a not-too-syrupy-sweet way to tell your guy that despite those little relationship idiosyncrasies, at the heart of it, there is love. Great gift. Ignore the one star review. If you like and appreciate clever sarcasm and humor, this is the perfect gift.

    Sarcastic, Cute, Funny, but Heartfelt!

I instantly identified with the author's analysis of the male/female relationship, but could never had stated it like they do. It says all the things we talk (and hopefully laugh) about with our girlfriends, but not to our sweeties. The book has just the right amount of sarcasim, but in the end, it really says this is just small stuff. The book is "ageless" (my husband and I are in our 60's) and I giving it to him for Valentine's Day! I'm looking forward to more from them!

As far as the 1 star revewer - I can't understand how this writer could have gotten "mean" out of reading this book--perhaps an attitude adjustment is needed.

Say "I love you" every day

Such a charming way to say "I love you" to your significant other ANY day of the week. This book is delightful, clever & extremely witty. What a great way to acknowledge your affection and appreciation for your partner, than with humor! This book breaks through the quirks in our relationships & the routine of the daily grind to remind us that, through all of this, "I love you". The illustrations add a charming touch to this fun, little book. Highly recommended!

This is one of the greatest books I have read lately definitly a must have...

I found this book to be one of the funniest books I have read in a while. I can almost guarentee you won't make it through the whole book without at least a smile because you can relate so well to this page or that page. Witty funny and easy to read and though it may be small in volume it is worth every penny great for a gift or just to brighten a day.great job making light of the men women differences ladies....

A MUST have for xmas or Valentine's Day gift!

This has to be one of the most fun books I've ever purchased. The illustrations are very artistic and the authors' writing style is catchy and humorous. You and your significant other will laugh with knowing smiles as you read through the book. You can't go wrong given the price either. A great little gift in a fun package at a fair price that ultimately says, "I love you."

    Not for the "Man's Woman"

I bought this thinking it would be cute and funny. Some of them were. Most of them weren't write for me. I didn't agree with them. Maybe I'm too 'tom boy' ish but I can understand where most of the men are coming from. wine vs beer. comfort vs style. Guess I'm just a guy at heart.
