I use these notebooks exclusively. They are virtually indestructable! I put a piece of 2 inch packing tape along the spine and then they never fall apart. I have owned just about every kind of notebook out there, and they all fall apart after they get a little use and abuse. These I have taken into the woods for days, have gotten them damp and written in them in the rain. I have kept them in my pocket while back packing, drawn and written in them in all kinds of medium, including spraypaint, india ink, watercolors, and prismacolor markers. The pages perform at a level and quality similar to bristol paper (which is meant for pen and ink drawings such as prismacolor and high quality felt and ball roller black ink pens). It is thinner than bristol paper though. Overall I prefer these notebooks to moleskinne and any likewise notebook. Moleskinne have a perfect line-width, but fall apart with any mistreatment whatsoever. The Fiorentina notebooks can take extensive abuse in terms of being packed often in packs, getting dusty and dirty, enduring light rain and general dampness of camping trips. I have had 2 of these notebooks in the last year and a half, and each has survived beautifly for over 8-10 months including aproximately 10 outdoor days per month in all conditions and seasons. It may not claim to be dirt, water, and abuse proof, but it should.

I have used about five of these refills in the Fiorentino Fleur de Lis Journal form B&N. The texture of the paper and the quality of the books are excellent. The refills are stocked in B&N stores but are often hard to find because they are plain-looking from the outside.
I order then pick up at store.
