Olive Nepal Paper Journal with Stick Closure (6" x 8")

ABSOLUTELY LOVELY

I received this journal for my birthday. I love the traditionally made paper and the bamboo closure sticks. It makes journaling a more intimate occasion. It's simply exquisite.

Totally Sweet

The pages in this book feel so soft. I love the blank pages and the hardcover. With a fountain pen, this jounrnal is amazing!

Wheeeeeeeeee

i have had this journal for alittle more than a year and it wonderful i would recamend you write with a quil because its a nice touch to the journal and makes it alot more fun to write in...great journal

Pretty good, non refilible, the sticks and the overlapping flap tend to get in the way when writing, but it's not too bad. There are 72 Pages give or take, not counting backs.

I originally bought it because it was made of recycled material. It was very durable and I love the closures. Amazing product!

Can't live without it!

I bough this journal for myself to keep track of notes and research that i was performing while in college. Not only is the journal beautiful on the outside, it is durable and the stays closed thanks to the stick closure. Also the paper is so beautifully made, i almost feel bad writing with a ball point pen on it, it seems like the kind of paper that you need a fountain pen to justify writing on it. Beautiful and Well Made!

Journaling made easy in Africa

I didn't purchase this journal for myself, but for my sister who is heading off to Africa for two years with the Peace Corps. She was thrilled with the journal and the fact that the two sticks will hold it closed as she travels and moves about. Because it isn't lined. she can sketch in it, as well as write of her experiences. Because of her interest in women in underdeveloped countries, she was particular pleased that the journals were made by women of Napal.

Artsy journal

I bought this because the paper was made in Nepal by hand and has a wonderful feel to it. I liked the bamboo closures and the texture of the covers. I primarily want to see how the paper responds to water color as I wanted to decorate each page with some sort of organic design as well as write in it.

Olive Nepal Paper Journal

I collect journals and this one, so far, has been my favorite. I love the grain of the paper and the authentic look to this journal. It's great for writing letters or even just sketching, writing notes, or putting your thoughts down. Journals can be for anything and I really enjoy the authentic feel this ones gives.

"Special Journal"

My father-in-law taking a trip through India - alot of walking. This journal is lightweight with handmade paper and supports Fair Trade principles. Just the right weight and size for a knapsack. Also special for stories about a unique journey.

What a great gift

I bought this for my daughter . Her first journal. its a beautiful book and the paper is nice for drawing or writing on.

A lovely journal that immediately cought my eye.

I used this journal for a year, and it held up quite nicely. None of the sticks came undone, and the journal did stay closed, keeping the pages nice and neat. A couple of downsides is that some pens did not show up on the paper too well because of the texture. Also, when rubbed, the paper does sort of dissolve. That and some of the pages were too thin. But overall it was a very nice experience writing in it.

Love this journal!

I bought this as a trip journal for our recent visit to Copper Canyon. It's terrific. The sticks really do keep it closed so that the pages stay neat - even if it's being bounced around quite a bit. And the paper, while hand-made, is incredibly ink-friendly. I like to use roller-ball pens, which sometimes run/spread on other handmade papers. But no - this one just took the ink beautifully. A few of the sheets were a little thin, making it impractical to write on both sides - but most of them were thick enough to handle whatever I put in it.

This made an excellent gift for a friend in the hospital. She loves interesting journals.

A Fascination to Work With

As others have said, in a quick recap:

-100 pages (I count by hand)
-Unlined
-Soft lokta paper inside- but does NOT erase well; pencils don't show up well, ballpoint pens are mediocre (I used sakura micron, which bled a little at .03MM thickness, but it's no big deal if you use a spare piece of PC paper underneath at times and write lightly)
-Paper is a soft honey-cream-beige color with little, thin darker flecks of natural inclusions
-Wonderfully textured, soft cover paper- I'm still wondering how it was made to retain those qualities!
-Non-Refillable
-Smooth stick closures (I particularly enjoyed taking my time opening and closing the journal)
-Takes Sakura metallic ink & Sakura glitter gel pens very well! Decorations stand out. Just be sure to catch the bleeding underneath w/ scrap paper.

The only downside was mine had a rather foul smell when I got it at the store, but I aired it out for a couple days when using it and burned fragrant incense to neutralize & cover up the scent, which did go away.

All in all, I love this journal to bits- but I do wish the papers would take erasing (the fibers pill up) so I could have used my friction erasable pens. Hence the 4/5 stars.

But it's a great journal. I have had this journal for one YEAR thus far with very often use and have had no signs of wear-and-tear- very durable!

Beautiful journal

I bought this to use at school because we get graded on journals. I love this journal so much. And all my friends just love it too. I've had it for 4-5 months now. The sticks have started to unravel a little, but nothing a little glue won't fix. The paper is awesome. So soft and WOW!

The Nicest Journal I Never Used!

I received this as a birthday present a few years ago, and it was immediately snatched up by my sister because she found it beautiful. She used it as a travel journal. I recently saw it in the store and bought it for a male friend who loves the paper quality. I thought this design would be sold out everywhere because it's old, but I'm glad it isn't, because I can buy one soon!

Non-included Information Dilemma

*This journal is beautiful and is attractively mysterious as it is handcrafted in the Netherlands, but I need to know how many pages it consists of before I buy it...I'm almost certain I will not receive this information by book review, but if anyone knows how many pages it has-Throw me a bone here...
