I love the size of this journal (about the same as a standard composition book) and that it opens to lay completely flat. The paper is really nice and thick and has no bleed through, even though I write with a felt tip pen.
That being said, the fact that the cover is just paper means that it is wearing faster than I would prefer. I have been using it for about a month and will likely only continue to write in this journal for another week. Then I want to get a leather journal that will stand up to being toted around with me all the time.
Bottom line - I highly recommend this notebook if you are just going to leave it on your desk or end table. But, as an everyday journal that can go everywhere with you, it might not be able to withstand that kind of abuse before you fill it up.

I bought this journal for a friend of mine who will be spending 4 weeks in Europe this summer (LUCKY!). After searching unsuccessfully for the perfect journal, I stumbled over this one in my local B&N. It's got an unusual wood cover (love that detail) and a large compass on the front: just enough for a travel journal (my friend loves subtle things, and would have hated a journal that had TRAVEL JOURNAL on the front in large lettering). I combined this purchase with some fun travel stickers and a pack of colorful pens, and the gift was 100% a hit. It's gender neutral enough (for those concerned about such things) that my friend and her soon-to-be husband can write in it without feeling odd, and the lined pages provide them some direction when writing. Highly recommended. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.
