More About This Product

Overview

Best-selling author Taro Gold's creation, The Tao of Mom, is a rare jewel of a gift book celebrating the timeless theme of motherhood with a daily dose of motherly wisdom.

In The Tao of Mom, author Taro Gold shares with us 365 rare and insightful quotations from mother figures around the world, revealing on each page the wisdom, courage, and compassion that define motherhood. Tao is a Chinese word meaning way or path. The Tao of Mom, then, is literally The Way of Mothers.

Many of the women celebrated in The Tao of Mom are well-known, while some are not; many hail from the West, yet all impart distinctly Eastern sensibilities. To further enrich our journey into the thoughts of each motherly figure, background details are included about each woman, such as Rosa Parks, mother of the modern civil rights movement; Aung San Suu Kyi, leader of the democratic movement in Myanmar; Maria Montessori, Italian educational reformer; and Abhirupa-Nanda, Indian poet-to name only a few.

Lavishly illustrated, this gem of a book is for you to give to the moms in your life, for moms to give to you, for everyone to give to dads (as a loving reminder of how wise moms can be), and of course for you to give to yourself. The Tao of Mom is for everyone in need of a daily dose of motherly wisdom, inspiration, and comfort.

    Wonderful

I absolutely love this book and read from it every morning and night when I wake up and go to bed. It is filled with inspirational wisdom and lovely illustrations. Of all the collections of women's wisdom I have bought over the years this one takes the cake as far as great quotes and unique sources from all over the world. It's also the most beautiful book of inspirational wisdom I've ever seen.

    365 Rare and Inspiring Quotations

For years, Taro Gold was the recipient of journals given to him by his mother each New Year's Day. From these journals, Taro has selected 365 of his favorite quotations. He also includes biographical notes about each quote contributor. I was captivated by quotes by Madame Chiang Kai-shek, Sei Shonagon, Patricia Clafford, Rosa Parks, Humishuma and Lady Murasaki Shikibu. Many of the quotes are exclusive to this collection. Taro has included wise quotes from his mother and wise women in his extended family tree. There are quotes filled with humor and profound quotes filled with wisdom. I especially enjoyed the quotes by Great-Grandma Edi and Taro's Mom. Great Aunt Iko explores the idea of expectation and Aunt Kimiko defines adulthood in a creative way. Taro Gold's books are well worth collecting and make the perfect gifts for any occasion. They are universal in their appeal and always bring moments of enlightenment to your life. The art and patterned pages also add to this books visual appeal.

    This book is the best!

I'm giving this book to every mom I know, and even a few dads and kids. It's the most thorough colletion of quotes -- some inspiring some funny some deeply thought-provoking -- and it's gorgeous to boot. I can't believe it's priced so low! I love it.
