I love this journal, more than any other I have gotten. The etched tree cover gives it a sense of beauty and professionalism without being too "eye catchy" or fancy." The beaded leather strap is a nice touch. Being that it is genuine leather, the front cover and back are easy to mark up with finger nails, pencils, etc., however, this does not ruin the cover or lessen the beauty of it and personally I think it adds character.
Not including the top line, there are 29 spaces which to write. With the right pen (I use a fine point Sharpie) there is no major bleeding thought to the other side of the page. I bought this as a gift for myself as I love journal writing/poetry. but is a perfect gift for anyone who is just starting out or an advent writing. The number of pages are just right so you're not staring at 100s of blank pages to fill up. I have bought the bigger sized journals (they can be heavy) but this one you can carry anywhere and not take up a lot of space on your desk or on a coffee shop table.
Bottom line: A good leather journal like this one is a nice luxury to have, but remember, what matters most is what is written inside it. Everyone starts out the same, with a blank journal. What you write in it makes it your own. Enjoy!
