    Work of art!

What a magnificent piece of art, suited more for an appreciation of beauty than for literal usage as a journal! The smell and the feel of the beautiful wood and leather give me great pleasure. Three stood proudly on my lovely wooden desk (they stand perfectly without need of support) until a friend's admiration prompted me to give him one. Now, I'm preparing to purcase a fourth. Although I don't use any as journals, I jot down special quotations I stumble across in my reading that I want to be reminded of frequently and have close at hand.

These are my favorite "gifts" of all time.

Wood Covered Leather Italian Diary--better buy than I found in Italy

I write one full page per day for 365 [366] days each year in my personal diary. I've done this since age 16. Interestingly, almost no personal diaries/journals are dated day by day and year by year anymore but have blank lines. Even worse for me, it's hard to find any diary with 365 pages anymore--and this product doesn't have 365 but about 250. When I wanted to chooose a special diary for the beginning of a special year in a new decade of my life, I checked in Rome and Venice when I was there. Didn't find what I wanted. But at B&N I found this excellent diary even though it has less than 365 pages. So I departed from tradition and bought two of these ornate/lined books: Part 1 and Part 2 for the year. I recommend the product. Excellent!

I use it as a journal. The gorgeous, beautiful leather-covered covers feel sturdy and comfortable in your hand as they are wrapped around wood. I find one lasts me one and a half to three months. An affordable luxury for the journal-writer, this also would make a beautiful gift as a log book for anyone you know who keeps records or a guest book. This is one of the few journals that a man would be comfortable having. PERFECT as a journal for anyone you know who writes one and appreciates beauty. VERY nice item, worthy of any writing that could become an heirloom.
