Wood Texture Brown Italian Leather Journal with Lock (6"x8")

As Good as it Gets !

This is truly one of the most beautiful Italian leather journals I have ever seen or purchased. It is a rich brown in color and it has a look of old-world to it. I am thrilled with the look of it and the weight of it. You can be proud to own this journal or give it as a gift.

Great graduation gift.

I gave this to my little brother for his high school graduation, he really enjoyed the genuine leather and old world style.

Nice Journal, High Quality

I am a fountain pen lover and it's sometimes a labor of love to find the perfect ink and paper combination so I will share my thoughts for anyone interested in how this Journal paper performs. I have a few different pens and ink combinations that I have tried, all of which have shown very good results.

The Parker Urban fountain pen with a medium nib and ink converter with Parker Quink bottled ink works very well on this journal paper; there is no feathering or bleed-through and it takes roughly 5 to 10 seconds for the ink to dry.

The second combination I tried was a Noodler's Ink Flex Tip piston fill pen with the Parker Quink; again I had very good results, the Quink behaved as it did with the Parker Urban pen.

The Parker Quink, unfortunately isn't waterproof and smudges when dampened, I purchased some Noodler's Baystate Blue which is extremely waterproof once it dries and will resist most methods of check washing techniques although it's susceptible to UV rays and didn't receive the bulletproof or eternal designation like some of the darker Noodler's inks that will resist any form of laser or UV check tampering techniques. Many 4.5 ounce eyedropper bottles of Noodler's ink comes with a Platinum Preppy eyedropper fountain pen and Kuretake eyedropper brush pen.

Next I tried the Platinum Preppy eyedropper fountain pen, Noodler's Flex Tip piston fill fountain pen, and Kuretake eyedropper brush pen with Noodler's Baystate Blue; very good combinations with this paper, no feathering or bleed-through except for a very small speck that did bleed through where I paused with the Kuretake eyedropper brush pen as it lays down a lot of ink. Dry times with the Noodler's Baystate Blue ink were fast, 3 to 5 seconds except for the Kuretake brush pen which took upwards of 15 seconds to completely dry.

In Love With The Clasp

I thoroughly enjoy the smell and the clasp to close the journal. Most journals just shut normally like a book, however, this journal has a closing mechanism, almost as if you were locking it.

The one downfall to this journal is that the pages are roughly cut, so it's easy to skip a page, not to mention the constant rub on the palm of your hand when you start to get toward the bottom of the page.

I do wish the metal clasp was tighter to the covering, so that it would not wiggle. Although, there are screws, so I may try to tighten it myself.

Luxurious Journal with Antique, "Old World" Charm, (BUT)

Today is January 1st and I took my new journal out of the package for the first time. I absolutely love the "Old World" look, feel and writing surface of this journal. The leather also looks rich and still has the leather smell. Here's the issue: The pages have "serrated" or roughed up edges which add to the antique look of the journal. There is where I have a problem. The entire journal must have been placed through a machine to rough the edges, because each page wound up stuck to the other! It took me about 25 minutes to separate each page and it wasn't an easy process. Some were really stuck! I just hope the pages stay separated. It would be aggravating to have to separate them for each day that I write. Even with that, I'm keeping the journal. It looks and feels like a collectible to treasure. The size is perfect and I love the brass-look latch.

NOP LOCK ON THIS!!!

Title says this has a "lock" - it does not - it has a metal clasp - nothing that locks. My sister wanted a "locking" journal - ordered this without looking at picture closely - RETITLE THIS BARNES AND NOBLE!!!

Blank Pages

This journal had several perfectly blank pages on which I wrote my mind numbingly boring thoughts and experiences.

Sooo Great!

I first spotted this item in a Barnes & Noble store, and my boyfriend and I were fighting over who should get it since there was only one left. I bought it and then sought it out online as well to order another for my boyfriend. Once it was finally in stock, i ordered it and he was sooooo happy to receive it. The pages sides are cut roughly so while writing in it, you can get kinda of scratched, but it's such a lovely journal. Would recommend it to anyone =)
