    A reviewer

This hand is designed for artists but is very cool to mess with during those brainstorming sessions at your desk. Warning: Everybody that picks it up immediately moves the fingers to the "flip off" position.

Seems to be of good quality. Only complaint is the mobility of the fingers - some are stiff, and I really wish the fingers could spread apart, and the thumb rotate at the base. Otherwise, it seems to be great quality.

The Mother's Day Gift That Made Me Cry ...

I received this wonderful piece for Mother's Day from my son who is profoundly hearing impaired. The packaging is clear, making it possible to see the actual hand inside. When I unwrapped my gift and opened the outer box, I could see the hand with the fingers forming the sign for "I Love You" in American Sign Language!! Needless to say, the tears weren't far behind! I'll display it with pride in my home for many years to come, even though that may not be its intended purpose. I want to get the man's hand now so I'll have the pair (as my son's hands are now much bigger than mine).

I should also mention that the hand is extremely realistic appearing when displayed on a shelf or table and, the wood is really smooth and pretty. It has already been a real conversation piece and everyone who has seen it is so impressed with the symbolism.

On a much lighter note - my son did mention that he would be happy to "change up" the signs, depending on my mood and the guests who might see it on any given day!! LOL

    Lovely addition to hallway vignette

I considered a similar articulating hand priced at $60 from Ballard Design. Never could justify the purchase at that price. Then found this natural wood model at B&N for 1/3 the price and snapped it up. The hand looks great on the hallway console next to a vase of dried grasses, oil painting above that and carved box on the other side. It's sort of funky and interesting and I love changing the finger positions/poses. Would have been a 5-star rating but the joints are pretty stiff and somewhat limiting as to possible poses...however, fine for my purpose.

    Wooden Female Hand

Great model of a woman's hand. Bought it for my daughter, who likes to draw. It is for her birthday so she hasn't received it yet but I did buy a second one for me. Interesting piece just to display. Fingers very lifelike.

    Good purchase.

I brought this mainly as a unique item to display as well as possible artistic use I saw on sale recently at my local B&N and I like it. It looks and feels well built. It's flexibility I feel can be limited depending from it's construction but it can still display a variety of poses. As an artistic device I can see this being useful for aiding in creating different hand poses.

It would be nice if the fingers could be spread out, for instance, like fingers in a 'peace sign'. Other than that, I find it to be a very nice model for drawing or displaying.

    Model of Hand Provided Mobility

This wooden model of the female hand provides adequate flexibility to take the desired shape. I use it as a model for crocheting mittens and gloves. The model enables me to put the mitten onto the hand as I crochet it.

    more from this reviewer

    I LOVE it!

I ordered two, to be mounted on my work table. I plan on cupping these hands to hold a ball of colored yarn while I work. The yarn ball whirls around in the hand while I crochette little chubby cheek sweaters for children. They will keep my colored yarn separated and the fingers will keep the yarn free from tangles. If there are other crochete or knit artists out there, this is a fabulous find! As my little chubbycheeksweaters get more involved with more colors, I will be ordering more artist hands.

I recommend the wooden manikin too. I have one in which I dress up from time to time. This is also a great studio piece for fun and "flavor!" LOL!
