Great case, but not the best stand

This is a great looking case. The dark grey perfectly matches that of the Nook2. It has a soft pleather feel with a little bit of give, and is very easy to grip. The magnet closure is strong and solid, but still easy to open. It's also great for lefties (or anyone who sometimes grips their Nook2 in the left hand), as the fold is on top. Really the only issue with this case is that the stand functionality isn't great. The "leash" is too short, so the Nook2 is put at too much of an upright angle, unless you're leaning back or can prop it up in front. However, because of how grip-y the material of the cover is, on every surface I've tried you can just fold it back without the leash and put it at whatever angle you want. It might fall down if you're on a train or something, but otherwise it works fine. As someone who only occasionally has need of a stand when eating or such, it's quite good enough.

Great Cover, Decent Easel, (synthetic) Leather?

This is the second cover I purchased and I'm really happy with it. (I had one of the other skeuomorphic covers until I found this one - I really don't understand why B&N would make a thin, future inspiring design for their product and then commission a bunch of covers to make it look like what it replaces hundreds of times over). It does its job well protecting the Nook in terms of rigidity and ergonomics.

The easel functionality as some have mentioned is decent, but could be better. The magnet works pretty well though even if it's hardly touching the other panel so you can still get a pretty decent viewing angle. Even without the strap the case stands on most surfaces because the material is grippy.

Speaking of the material though, I have no idea what industrial synthetic leather is, but I can tell you it feels like what I imagine the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' asses to feel like. That is, if the Turtles had asses and tannable hides.

Overall a wonderful cover, albeit maybe slightly overpriced.

    Feels Excellent Highly Recommended!*!*!*!*

My fingers have never felt a fabric that i wanted to wrap myself in, or coat my walls with. The cover itself is sturdy but very light, it dose not add much extra weight to the nook itself. It is almost like holding a check book wallet in your hand. The magnet on it secures the nook completely along with the two plastic snap ins the nook goes in, and i get to stand it upright on a table and read on an easel type cover. Very nice overall. I would definitely recommend this item to a friend or others. So excited to have a nook finally!!

    Love It!

I wasn't sure if I wanted a cover for the Simple Touch but I did want to protect it so I decided to try the Industriell Cover. I love it because it has a slimmer profile than the other covers, so it isn't bulky and fits into my purse easily. As a lefty I appreciate the flip style cover, and it's great for reading while having lunch. Only complaint would be that the strap is a little short for getting it to stand up easel style, although for the most part it does stay put on it's own. The color is a great match for the nook Touch, but I wish there were other colors available.

good - but not all its cracked up to be

Pros: The material feels awesome! It's very easy to grip and can be set on almost any surface and even at very steep angles, it wont slide off or shift. I love the way the easel design can flip up and over to the back of the device, allowing the user to take advantage of the slim contour while reading. It's very easy to hold and sits in my slightly large hands very easily.

Cons: The strap, as others have complained is too short. The cover cannot be effectively used as an easel, allowing the device and cover to stand alone on a desk while you read. If that is what you're looking for, keep looking.

Also, the magnet is kind of heavy given its size. Not a problem for carrying, but when that heavy magnet is attached to a ribbon that allows it to swing around near your device's screen you could be encountering a problem very soon.

The magnet regularly swings around and smacks against the screen if I'm not careful to prevent it.

On the second day after I bought my nook, the magnet accidentally reattached to the front cover as I was closing it. This caused the cover to pull on the magnet and when it released, the magnet sort of "sling-shot" around on the ribbon and swung right into my screen, leaving a tiny mark where it hit. Its so small it looks like a dust speck and it hasn't proven to be a problem, but if you buy this cover, save yourself the trouble and buy a screen protector to.

Lastly, and this is very nit picky, but the ribbon covers up the charging plug when the cover is closed, so you have to undo the ribbon to charge the device.

Love this cover, but I did make an addition.

I now love this cover. I like the way the material feels and it is easy to hold. The strap is to short to really use as an easel so I took a scrap piece of ribbon and attached small magnets to each end to make an extender. It works perfectly and I didn't ssew it, I used double sided tape. So far it is holding up well and I can adjust for the perfect reading angle.

Yea! A binder made that left handers can actually use effectively.

This is a great configuration for left handers. It would be great to have several more colors in this style to allow left handers ease of use. As a left hander it is always annoying to adapt to binders and such that are clearly made for right handers. Thank you to the designer for thinking of us lefties.

    Like the cover

I read books in bed, at my desk, at the kitchen counter, in the car, etc. I wanted a cover that gave me the stand option. Like others who have reviewed this, I sometimes find the magnetic tab to be too short to prop the Nook at the right angle. However, it will oftentimes stand up on its own without needing the magnetic tab to actually connect. My bigger issue is that as I use my Nook more, the cover fabric seems to be loosening at the top a bit, so it is seems to have a bit of sideways slop. I'd like to believe something that costs this much would hold up a little better. Back on the plus side, the magnet's capabilities are not diminished. Lastly, occasionally I remove my Nook from the cover completely to decrease the bulk in my hand. I suspect I would do this with any cover.

    DON'T buy !

This cover is described as being made of "industrial synthetic leather". What they really must mean is that it's made of industrial waste and byproducts from China. The exterior is unpleasant to touch, has a tacky feel. The interior faux suede accumulates permanent marks every time you touch it.

The strap is definitely not long enough to hold the reader at a good angle.

The button on the back won't turn off the Nook.

I have the comparable Nook Color cover, and it is quite good, but apparently someone shaved the manufacturing cost a bit thinner, and is now producing junk. For $40 there is no reason why B & N could be selling a decent quality cover made in the U.S. or some country with a better reputation for quality.

The only good thing I can say about this cover is that its "industrial synthetic" odor fades after a few days.

Good cover with one extreme design flaw; if you are trying to remove the magnet from the position that creates a stand and it swings around to hit the screen IT CAN DAMAGE YOUR NOOK!!!
Had to return two nooks because of this.  I didn't realize what the cause was after the first one, but caught it with the second.  Some are stating this is caused by the magnet, but it is simply the magnet hitting the screen.
Loved the case until i realized it was the issue.  If the nook was tougher, it may have been the case for me.

The easel style is the very best kind of cover since I can hold my nook in either hand without tiring. Note: The nook simple with glow light screen is too delicate for this cover. The magnet scratched mine.

    2 Defects in Design

As others have noted, the strap is not long enough to set the Simple Nook at comfortable viewing angles. Also, the clip that fastens the Nook to it is only on the left side -- when you push the left side buttons, the right side is not securely fastened and the Simple Nook "rolls up" a little bit causing you to press harder on the left side than the right.

This is basically everything I wanted in a cover. Black interior

This is basically everything I wanted in a cover. Black interior and exterior with an easy, efficient closing ability and can stand up, though I don't really use it for that. The magnetic clasp sticks to the back so I can fold it flat and that is just perfect for me. And this it totally random, but the little blue n symbol on the back cover - love!

I was looking for a cover for my Nook and found this at my local Barnes and Noble. It's great to have a cover that provides protection and also enables me to read without holding it so I can eat or snuggle under my covers at night. Great for reading during lunch break or while eating at reststops and airports! Case is very durable and doesn't add much weight. It's also seemingly impossible to stain (remember I use it during lunch ..). My only wish is that these came in more designs and colors.

I have this cover because it comes closest to what I want. Perfect? No.
PRO: 1. I like being able to use the Nook nearly hands-free. Books are often my lunch companion, and it's great to be able to prop it up.
    2. The cover, made of some synthetic, is sturdy and apparently impossible to damage. I've had it more than a year, I have not treated it especially well, and it still looks fine.
CON: 1. Everyone seems to agree, as I do, that the ribbon is too short. Would it kill you to give us a little more grosgrain?
    2. It's gray. It's ugly. Why can't I get this design in more colors, and more (interesting) materials? 3. A huge expanse of the cover is magnetic. This means I have to keep it away from credit cards, transit tickets, etc. (On the plus side, it gathers all the stray paper clips in my purse.) I bet some clever person could come up with a solution that isn't magnetic, or at least uses smaller magnets. 4. To charge the thing, I have to unfasten the ribbon, because it goes right over the place where the cord plugs into the Nook. Bad plan!

In summary, I have it, I'll keep it, because there's nothing better. That doesn't mean I love it.

    Nice cover

I purchased this cover because my husband has it on his Nook Color. This is a nice cover for the Nook Easy Touch w/Glow Light. It sits nicely on my leg when I'm out and about where I don't have a table to use and it will not slip off my leg. Easy to hold onto in any position. I like how I can also prop it up as a stand, especially sitting at the kitchen island. It folds back nicely and stays out of the way.

My only negative is that it is not easy to turn the power on and off, I can't use the button on the back of the cover, it does now work well for me. I work around that.

    Great low profile cover

I found my Emerson Quote cover uncomfortable to hold while reading because the spine on the left was too thick when it was folded back. I chose this cover in particular because of its thin profile and the fact that it doubles as a stand.

The texture of this is a cross between rubber and suede as far as texture goes. It's easy to grip and seems fairly sturdy. I expect this will be a lot more practical for my use since I'll be able to read without constantly shifting my hands all over.

As far as the stand goes, it will stand upright, but it stands almost completely straight so your Nook will be pretty much vertical when you are reading. Since I don't read at a table more than 30 or 40 minutes at a time, this suits me fine. If you wanted it to lean back you can always prop it against something or get a different stand for it.

Overall it seems to fit my needs and I recommend it to anyone who finds the Quote cases are a little too big to hold.

If you want it as a stand for reading hours at a time you might find it uncomfortable so go to a B&N store and try one out before buying.
