    The Perfect Nook Cover

I thought long and hard about which cover would work for me. Here is why I really like the Easel Cover after weeks of using it:

    1. Allows access to page turn buttons on left and right because the cover folds up instead of sideways.
    2. The magnetic latch is far better than an elastic strip
    3. It can be set to hold the Nook erect to read while I eat lunch or on an airplane. Hands free! PS, keep a napkin handy for the page turn button so it does not get food on it.
    4. The cover material cleans up pretty easily but has a good grip.
    5. When open, the cover gives the Nook a bit more upward angle when sitting on my lap, making it easier to read.

    Great cover but....

I loved this cover until I dropped it. The plastic tabs that hold the nook are not made well. One of the tabs broke off as soon as it hit the floor. I tried to superglue it back on but it won't hold. I think you're better off getting a cover that doesn't use the plastic tabs....

    Clean, Classy, and Clever

Ordered this one because it doesn't use elastic straps to hold the hardware in place. A pair of stiff clips do the job, locking in to the pre-existing set of notches at the top and bottom of the nook. (Surprised that Industriell didn't add matching clips for the nook' right side, for maximum security.)

The cover flips completely back to lie flat for in-hand reading, or you can "tent" it with the magnetized strap-and-clasp to prop your reading on a table.

Really elegant in appearance, dead-easy to use, and the material is even nice to the touch. Worth the small premium you pay, and a real bargain compared to some of the design covers.

Makes reading the nook even easier!

This cover is great. It folds over to create a "tent"-type shape that can sit on even and uneven surfaces and enables me to literally read with one finger. All I have to do is press the page forward button without even holding the nook. So I can lie in bed under the covers and be totally warm, cozy, and have my nook on top of the covers and one hand outside the covers to turn the page. I just love this nook cover. My husband got one for his nook and he is equally happy with it. I just cannot recommend it enough.

A Solid Functional Cover That Disappears in your hand along with the Nook

I love this cover! To me what makes this cover so great is that it adds almost no size or bulk to my nook and just disappears in my hand. The cover folds over and neatly tucks behind the nook and the magnet clasp locks the top cover in place out of the way. When the cover is closed, the magnetic clasp also securely protects the screen and color LCD. The feel of the material has a nice quality texture to your touch, and I really like the embossed "n" on the inside top cover. While at first I was concerned that the latch mechanism would not securely hold the nook in place, I was completely wrong. The nook is firmly in place, and while not trying this, I believe the nook would not pop out of the case if I accidentally dropped it. WIth the ability to flip this cover over and then use the magnetic latch to hold the top in place, this cover allows you to stand the nook up on a desk so you can read the nook on your desk. This is great if you have say a user guide or technical manual on your nook and want to refer to it while working on a computer! One final comment about this cover is that it does not show finger prints. If your looking for a very function as well as minimalist cover for your nook, well this is it!

    Almost Perfect

I love nearly everything about the Industriell Easel Cover. It's stylish; makes reading the nook incredibly convenient, especially while eating; it's understated and not too flashy so that I can take my nook with me and not worry too much about it drawing attention to itself (a useful feature when wanting to appear absorbed in a task at work).

The smell of the thing is repugnant. I blame the sinful amount of packaging used in shipping this cover. The packaging is awful. Not just because it's wasteful but also because it's a bloody pain to take off when opening. Don't be tempted to use scissors to remove the cardboard wrapping -- you'll mar the cover and hate yourself for it. Also, the cover is going to pick up every nick, ding and scratch so be prepared for a breaking in period.

I liked all three Industriell covers but I went with the Easel because of the easel feature -- very convenient for nearly hands free reading. There has to be a more environmentally sound way to protect it during shipping though and I strongly urge the good folks at B&N to take the environment into consideration when introducing new nook accessories.

Good idea, but really doesn't deliver

Nice construction, and finish, but the way it works left me wanting more. Folding the cover over the top and to the back made holding the device unpleasing. When closed the cover moves quite a bit leaving an insecure feeling. I ended up returning the cover for a envelope type; which I think protects the unit much better, and is more fun to use.

    Good design but ...

Good design but one major flaw..a few people brought this up and I think it should go into your decision to buy this item. This cover smells terrible when it's brand new and the residue on the cover comes off on to your hands. I don't know if it's the material of the cover that is offgasing or the mfr applied some kind of coating to the material.. Either way, this offgasing can't be healthy. I have read that the smell will go away after a while..but this is something serious to consider..i bought the cover to use immediately, not to let it sit for a few days.
If you do buy it, I would recommend letting it air out somewhere with good ventilation until the smell goes away. I hope Barnes and Noble and the MFR look at this cover again and reconsider the MFR process or material to eliminate this problem.

    not worth $40

spine on top is superior to spine on side, for the reasons mentioned by the other reviewers. for this the designers should be commended. also, the magnetic strap is elegant.

however, this unit provides plastic holders for the left-hand side tabs only -- not the right hand as well. i am guessing this was done to save money -- albeit on a book cover costing $40. one would think with this expensive of a book cover, they would have enough profit margin to add the right-hand side plastic tabs.

also, the back cover needs to be stiffened. because it is flexible, it is possible for the back to flex and the left-hand-side tabs to slip out. again, four tabs would have been better than 2, and a more rigid back better yet.

also, the strap was placed directly in the middle -- over where USB and headphone jacks plug in. listening to music files on the nook with the cover closed (and strap in place) was apparently not a considered use-case.

i'm returning mine. i'm happier keeping my hard-earned money for now. i'll wait a few years and pick one up used. it's just not worth the price premium given its defects.

    Excellent cover, very slick!

I received my Industriell Easel Cover about a week ago, and am very happy with it so far. I was a little bit apprehensive about the plastic clip mechanism that holds the nook in place, but am glad to report that it holds the nook very securely. There isn't much play between the nook and the back cover, even though the clip is only on one side. With everything else so well engineered, I wondered why they decided to only put clips on the one side. My conclusions are: 1) less material = cheaper production cost and 2) two clips might be more difficult for the users to navigate as they'd have to line up the tabs simultaneously. I still wish the cover had two clips, even though one seems adequate.

The cover feels nice in my hands. I was surprised by the other reviewer who said that it did not feel nice. I have smaller hands (I wear size small women's gloves), so I didn't want a case that added much bulk or width to the nook. This cover's low profile fit that criteria. The material that is used is really nice. The external surface has a very soft feel, while the internal surface has a micro-suede feel. Also, I did not want a case like the envelope cases, as I'd inevitably lose it if it weren't attached to the nook.

The magnet and nylon strap is a really nice feature. This was one of my main criteria for a cover: I wanted something that would hold the flaps closed, but didn't want elastic straps which tend to become useless as the elastic wears out. In case you were wondering, the magnet is actually a strip embedded within the top cover; it's not on the metal tab at the end of the strap. So, when reading my nook, I generally have the strap tautly wrapped over the top cover to hold the cover open. The "easel" functionality comes into play when you have allow slack to the strap. The magnet and strap will hold the cover open like an easel. This is really useful for when I want to read while cooking (when my hands are full) and want to prop the nook up on the kitchen counter. I bet that it will be super handy if I ever get organized and put all my recipes onto PDFs.

I've used the nook in this cover at the gym while on the elliptical machine and recumbent bicycle, and it was compatible with the little magazine ledges on the machines. If you want to use the mp3-player capability, you should note that there is very little clearance on the bottom edge of the cover due to its low profile. In other words, the headphone jack will protrude farther than the case, so your nook might wobble if you have it propped up.

Overall, I think this was very well constructed with nice materials. The product design was pretty well thought out, with nice details like the "nook" engraved in the metal tab and the "n" cut out of the interior of the top flap (it has shiny, light blue nylon under the cutout). The stitching on my cover is very well done; no loose threads or uneven stitching. We'll have to see how this cover stands the test of time, but so far I'm very well satisfied.

    Liked it but...

I struggled over the rating to give this cover. I really liked a lot of the features, such as the easel. The only reason I downgraded my review is that I think it may have messed up my nook. It has a SUPER strong magnet and within a week of putting it on my nook the nook was making popping noises when plugged in. Don't know if it was coincidence or causal. In any event, had to have the nook replaced and returned the cover just in case.

    Great Design!

I bought the cover at the same time that I bought the Nook. It seemed to be the most functional of the covers. I love it! The Nook fits well in the cover and the cover is not in your way when you are reading. The cover can stand while you are reading which is great for the beach, on a plane, etc. You don't need to hold it! However, if you do hold it, it is light and comfortable, you can reach all buttons easily. The color is neutral, however, I wish they made it in other colors, too. The magnet is sturdy and holds well while using it. You can charge the Nook while leaving the cover on. Overall, it is a great cover!

    This is a wonderful cover

I had originally turned my nose up at the Industriell Easel when I saw it online. It seemed to me to be one of the least appealing of all the covers. Thank heavens I decided to wait to buy at my local store, because seeing the covers in person changed my mind completely and I wound up buying the Industriell Easel. This cover is tactile, functional, and terrific in every way. It keeps the nook secure, stays closed in my purse, and - as others have noted - nearly disappears when I am reading, making using the nook even easier than holding open a book. I can't say enough in praise of this cover. It's a marvelous product.

Looks good, functions not so well

I bought this cover because I wanted to be able to set my Nook on a table or desk and read hands-free. It worked well enough in that respect. Unfortunately, the fastener is magnetic, without any kind of notch or other mechanism to keep it in place when the Nook is closed, and it tended to slip around. The cover did stay closed with that fastener--but it also blocked access to the charger connector unless I moved it off to the side. Because the fastener is magnetic, I was also concerned that it would trash anything with a mag strip such as a transit pass. I returned it and got the Bleeker cover.

Solid 4 to 4-1/2 Stars For This Cover

I ordered this cover because I didn't want to have to constantly have to drag my nook out of a cover to view it. This cover is perfect - easy flip open style and a magnetic clasp make for quick access but good protection. It's sturdy but not bulky and it looks nice.

However, there are a few minor quibbles I have with it. One, I wish it had 4 retaining clips for the nook, not just two. The nook fits in there fairly securely with the two clips, but 4 would have been optimal in case the cover got dropped, etc. Two, every nook cover should come with a plastic holder for a contact card or business card in case the nook is lost. Not a huge deal; I can pick up a pack of adhesive holders at an office supply place, but it would be a nice feature. Finally, the magnetic clasp closes right over the USB charging cord slot. A better idea would have been to have two straps, one on on either side, attached to a linked set of two magnets, leaving the port accessible with the cover closed. Again, a minor issue. Overall, a good value and a cover I'd recommend to others.

    Industriell Easel Nook Cover

Really like this cover. Very convenient and stands up on table thus relieving having to hold. Not as heavy as I thought it would be. The light clips nicely to the top.

Easel Cover is great for reading

I looked at the various cases for my new Nook, went with the Easel Cover since it seems to make more sense for how I read. I like how the top cover flips away and you can pull the strap behind to hold it. It feels better in my hands then the other covers since it feels the same in my right or left hand.

There are only a couple of things I don't like about the cover. One is the strap, it seems like it can be fraying soon (maybe I have a lemon). Also, it may get in the way at times. The second thing which has been pointed out by others is the fact there are only two anchor points. It would be better to have all four as anchor points. And, if those points were spring loaded vs. just plastic. I can see the tabs breaking after one fall.

    Amazingly versatile cover!

I debated long and hard before I decided on a cover for my Nook. I've never written a review before but I'm super pleased with my purchase and wanted to share my experience.

Here's why I love this cover:

    1. The easel design makes it infinitely adjustable. The faux-suede fabric allows it to grip any surface and you really don't even need to adjust the magnet for it to stay in position.

    2. The FLAP is AWESOME! I've used to block the glaring sun at the beach or a light at home that's causing backlit issues. When I was at the beach last weekend I even propped it on my forehead to use it like a baseball hat brim - hilarious, yet effective. I felt like I was in a little cozy reading cave, of sorts.

    3. The magnet is strong. I've only seen it come undone in my purse a couple times. No big deal... it doesn't expose the surface to scratches from keys or whatever in my bag, even if the magnet comes off. Furthermore, I don't have any issues charging it while it's closed with the magnet. I can't believe the other reviewers that say they can't charge it while it's closed. (?) It's a sturdy ribbon material, but it's flexible and adjustable. Just slide the ribbon slightly over.

    4. I like the minimalist design! I was worried it would add too much bulk, but I barely notice it's there while holding it. I don't mind the color, either. It matches the black and grey screen and the grey trim of the Nook nicely. I like that it kind of disappears. I don't want to be distracted from my book ;)

    Glad I got it!

    I like it but...

it smells really bad! I did not read any reviews prior to buying this cover so knew nothing about it. I just now read them because this cover smells so bad, I wondered if others had the same problem. Only two people mention this so I don't know if this is a universal problem. It smells so bad that it even leaves the scent on my hands after I have held it. I can't help thinking it might be a carcinogenic substance and am concerned about chemical absorption through my skin and lungs.
