Just received this light after pre-ordering it. Clips firmly to the new Nook simple touch reader. It hardly adds any weight to the Nook while reading. The light is very bright, so it can be positioned far enough away from the e-ink display of the Nook so as to not have any glare.
This light uses the CR2032 round batteries, which makes it much lighter in weight than other clip-on lights that use the larger "AAA" batteries. The CR2032 batteries are a bit more expensive, but one can find these in multi-packs online to bring the cost down.
Highly recommended!

Everything about this light is great, except for the unnatural blue tint the light has. I ended up having to return it because of the eye strain it causes. Apparently not everyone is having this problem because it's getting lots of great reviews, but if your eyes are sensitive to blue light I would avoid this product.

This tiny light is great! It is SO lightweight, and can be placed in any position. It can clip onto either the Nook itself or the cover, and has little grippy pads to keep it secure. We carry these things around on our cases most of the time and they never fall off. (We have the quote covers). The light is just bright enough, lights up the whole screen. Someone complained that it was too bright and his wife was complaining about it. I guess you have to choose whether you want something bright enough to keep stationary as you read (and maybe light up some of the room in the meantime), or one that is so dim you have to hold it in your hand and move it along as you read. I'd choose the former, and just place a blanket over it to contain any stray rays. This is the next best thing to the built-in lights on Kindle covers (though those handy lights weren't enough to convince me to go with the Kindle).

The BAD: The light is too bright!!! it illuminates part of the bedroom at night. It bothers other people sleeping. My wife has asked me several times to turn down the brightness (you can't) or to please turn it off.
The pros: Clips firmly to the new Nook and it does not add almost any weight to the Nook while reading.

Although I enjoy the light weight, ease of use with this product it does have a bit of glare/blue light issue. I love to use it in bed when hubby is sleeping. I position the light appropriately (not hard to do) so the light is not in his area. If I position it too close to the screen the light will glare over and make it difficult to read the text. It just takes a bit of patience to find the right position of the light so it will be effective but not glare on the text nor shine on your partner's space. Once your eyes get accustom to this type of light you will have hours of "reading in the dark" enjoyment!

Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged. My imaginary "perfect" reading light must be: 1. lightweight 2. bright 3. give even illumination 4. have no glare 5. last for a long time 6. has daylight temperature (not blue tint) 7. good ergonomic - easily positioned and switched on/off Of these Lyra fits #1, #5, and partially #7 (the goose neck is flimsy). To be fair, of all the lights I used over years none fit all 7... But glare, blue tint and uneven illumination are very annoying, hence 3 stars.

The Lyra light is very light weight & the light clips on easily to the 2nd genration Nook and stays put. LED light is a clean white light and no shadowing once you adjust the angle with the very flexible neck. It is a great light I rate it 5 stars.
Batteries not an issue 5 packs can be found for under $2.00 if you shop around.

I just got this yesterday and tried it out for the first time last night reading in bed. Illuminated my Nook perfectly and as my wife snored through my reading I don't think it disturbed her.

I have found this light to be too bright. If I read in bed with it, my husband can't sleep. The blue light also gives me a headache. The only way I can use this is in a room that already has lights on, which defeats the purpose. My Nook Color is much better for night time reading. I can read in bed in the dark with the black background and see much better.

In a perfect world, I would have liked a cover with a built in light, but short of that, this does quite well. Light, attaches easily and securely, does not interfere with one handed reading, a "must-have" for low-light/night time reading. It provides plenty of light to read by.

This handy light started out bright (though not "too bright") for the first month, then mysteriously became dim. I have 20/20 eyesight; the light just is no longer bright enough to use.
The battery is still fine, but the light is half or less what it was. I cannot read at night now unless I hold it and move the light up and down the Nook as I read -- it illuminates only about 1/4 of the screen.
New battery didn't fix the problem but was expensive. Watch guy thought the light may have a short inside.

This is the best book light I've ever had! It is light, disperses light evenly over the entire Nook, and has a long life battery! It can be positioned and stays positioned! I will be getting two more...one each for my folks. Highly recommend.

I agree with the previous review, this light is too harsh, I would have returned it if i could but it is too late, the clip on is a pain,it stick out of the nook covers, the light itself is too blue and does hurt your eyes.

At first this light was too bright and blue. It was very harsh on the eyes. But, after about 6 weeks, it is so dim, you can not use it at all. I am not sure of other light choices, but this light is not a must have for a nook.

I bought this light and was happy with it for about 2 weeks. Then the light seemed to dim. I thought maybe I bought one with a low batttery & returned it for a new one. Same problem! It was bright for 2 weeks then the light dimmed. Next I tried to change the battery and COULD NOT get the battery cover open!. While trying, I dropped it on the floor and the light can detached from the flexible arm. Totally useless! DO NOT BUY!

I bought a Lyra light at the same time I bought my Nook and within a month it was flickering and wouldn't stay bright. I took it back and since it was almost Christmas the store was nice enough to swap it out for me. The second one last about the same length of time and it too has a slow yet continous flicker. I am very disappointed that both of these lights were junk!

The light worked great for about a month now the light is dim. I hadn't used the light for a couple weeks and thought it was me. But no the light has definitely gotten dimmer. I have to read and move the light along the page. There is a terrible glare on the nook screen and it can be annoying. In the beginning it did have a blue tint to it but it wasn't so bad. The light getting dimmer is definitely unacceptable. I am now stuck with a light that doesn't work in a dark room..
