Every fashion magazine has style ideas that are "in", ones that accentuate your body type and DIY accessories. When I read Nylon it captured my attention. It felt like a fresh and creative start to my new found love of Nylon magazine. What I get most intrigued by is the layout of the magazine and the photography. It puts you into a new world of excitement which you're dying to explore.
I believe Nylon inspires teen fashionistas. It shows fabulous new styles that young girls can try on their own. Nylon has inspired me to the way I dress today. It has updated my style and gives me new things to try out.
I'm in love with the spread of the magazine also. The spunk and unique urban chic vibe I get from the graphics are amazing. Compared to other magazines they are "blah".
The only disappointment to this magazine is that there are too many advertisments. Another thing is that some fashion magazines are filled perfectly but, Nylon decieves your eye because it looks big but it's not as thick as it seems.
Being a subscriber for nearly 2 years now, and reading the zine cover to cover, I am not a huge Nylon fan. I will not be renewing my subscription either.
I love their layouts, what they feature (though many readers, including myself, are often upset at who they feature on the cover) and I love how it is a version of Vogue for those who do not want to be conventional.
Their articles I have stopped reading, because of such a disappointment with many of them, especially the Paris Hilton issue. They rarely do give you insight into anything, when they should, rather than just ramble on about things that are in no way related to what the magazine is meant to be. Whenever they just put someone on the cover for the hell of it, the article is 99% of the time VERY awful.
Buy an issue in store, then subscribe. Not for everyone, even those with taste Nylon is aimed at.
I generally feel as though once you've read one fashion magazine, you've read them all. However, with NYLON, I truly feel as though I'm taking part in something new, creative, fresh and inspiring. Read primarily for the photography and spreads, I've noticed that the magazine's articles can borderline on Pretentious; However, a magazine aimed mainly towards well-dressed city-dwelling hipsters almost has the right to posses such a sense of superiority. Right?
